I think of the relationship between Null and Rainbow. Null feels bad that it cannot feel the same feelings towards her that Lullabye and Goodnight do. Reflects all four’s wishes that they could be together like they want.

I think of the relationship between Lullabye and (particularly) Goodnight and Rainbow. It is simple, and kind of sad. I think hints of Null can be seen in this song, specifically with the line ‘the baby will have rosy cheeks like you’-> change, dying, baby souls, blank slate to shape.
ELIN AND THE LULLABY ORCHESTRA - ALL THE PRETTY HORSES
Where the last one was more focused on Goodnight and Rainbow, this one is more about Lullabye and Rainbow. Lullabye in particular wants to be cared for, and the song creates this feeling with its general mood and with the fact that it is a lullaby sung for children. Horses are an important symbol in the story. Lullabye and Goodnight are the haltered horse, and Null carries the same dangerous spirit as a horse. Horses can reflect the element of dominance and submission in many of the relationships in the story. Lullabye and Goodnight are drawn to Rainbow in part because of the way she treats her horses.

I think this song would reflect what is happening during TO PLEASE/TO HURT. Lullabye and Goodnight are continually hurt and let down by others and this impacts their view of themselves, others, and the nature of the world.
LOCUST - SOME LOVE WILL REMAIN UNSAID
Blessing’s feelings for Lullabye and Goodnight. They really have strong feelings for them, and keep these secret until they suddenly come out.
BUZZ CLIFFORD - WOULDN’T IT BE NICE (TO HAVE WINGS AND FLY)
Mood piece. I think of scenes of nature and windy shores.
ROB THOMSETT - BREATHING SPACE
Similar to previous. I think of warm nights and cool grass brushing your legs as you run through it.
RAINBOW - RAINBOW EYES
Reflection on Rainbow by Lullabye and Null, knowing that things are different. This is where Rainbow gets her name from!

This song makes me think of Goodnight during TO PLEASE/TO HURT. Sadism, rough sex, hurting, misery. Wishing for something else but feeling this is what you deserve.

Flirting and sex with Rainbow.

I think of Sinter. She is a miserable, scared, lonely person.

Lullabye in the aftermath of the relationship with Sinter, and during TO PLEASE/TO HURT.

Null all the way through. Reminds that Null does not feel beholden to typical standards of politeness, courtesy, and morality. It acts strangely and sometimes without regard for others. It makes Rainbow feel afraid, sad, and disoriented because of this and how different it is from Lullabye and Goodnight.

THE RESIDENTS - HE ALSO SERVES
I think of the feelings Lullabye and Goodnight have when Sinter starts to do things that hurt them. Dangerous and scary, betrayal of trust.

Another one about the relationship between Lullabye and Goodnight and Rainbow.

The feeling and mood of the song lines up very well with how the story feels to me. The ending especially makes me think of how the story ends with the Null completing its task.

I first had Lullabye and Goodnihgt in mind, but this fits Null better. Again, this is a very self-assured, obscure person. Null feels that killing and dying are just parts of life.

This makes me think of Goodnight. ‘It eats itself until it's free, but I’ll eat them instead of me.’ I have drawn a piece with this song in mind--it depicts intercourse between Lullabye and Goodnight. Sex for them can become self-harm, physically and psychologically.

a bit late with posting my discussion thingy about my latest submission. i said in the caption/description of the piece that it was initially just intended to be light exploration of the little balls of planetary/life energy that lullabye and goodnight are able to absorb from living things(which technically is anything in nature, but im thinking right now of other people). their purpose is to manifest the pool(of essences/souls->basically a big core of energy in the center of the planet that all 'souls' are born from and eventually return to once the body allows them to) into the physical realm. thats the basics of it and its pretty vague so can be fulfilled in any number of ways. this purpose+their general natures makes it possible for them to reabsorb/reintegrate other souls into their own under particular circumstances and if that process is completed the body dies and the 'soul' is essentially a new baby life ready to rejoin the pool and be born and experience the world all over again. while waiting to be transported there it orbits around them and into them. they have a desire to care for it the way they would desire to care for any baby creature. just kind of wanted to see an interaction between a baby soul and any character. this isnt necessarily something that ends up happening in the story or something that either of the pair chooses to do. i went with lullabye bc i then decided to use the piece to work through some feelings. the text is my writing. usually i pick song lyrics or something that i liked. i think it is clear what it is about. lullabye and goodnight go through similar things mostly near the beginning of the story. i am trying to be very careful about my portrayal of this particular subject but i will be using my own experiences+exploratory interests and sensibilities to guide me. this story is primarily for me but i hope other people will find parts of it to resonate.

a new journal so soon.....im finding im really liking posting one after ive submitted an artwork.
as you can see from the latest submission/upload, i finally decided on new names for those two! their old names dont feel relevant but you can see what they were on my first upload titled 'roughs'. i had thought about calling them few and far between, just because i liked the sound when i was looking at lists of pair words. however i couldnt get past the fact that those names had no significance i could attach to them in terms of the story and my own personal emotional reaction so i kept looking. no luck until listening to klaus nomi's three wishes:P i felt 'lullabye' and 'goodnight' worked nicely. lullabye is a more sexual character and goodnight is a more violent character so it seems a little funny that way to me(sleeping/lulled into relaxed state and an ending). i just need names for my other characters too....
you may also notice that i havent submitted any full pieces yet. i do have some in mind, but the basics need to be fleshed out again before i can feel ready to properly tackle those and do justice to my own ideas. i shouldnt feel the need to justify myself on that but>___< i guess i did. i just get a little bored looking at my gallery right now is all.
procrastinating hard on a stats quiz right now. ive been working it up into a huge scary thing in my head all week even though i know exactly what to expect and i know it'll be ok. ah!!!!!!!

i dont have anything to say about the piece i just posted. instead i wanted to say as soon as ive finished going through my likes on youtube+spotify i will share with you a music playlist for my story. which im realizing still doesnt have a name. so i should get on that eventually hahaha. i wish i could devote more of my time to this story but unfortunately(not really) i have other obligations-__-
mostly just felt like chatting. i like this site a lot. feels much better for me than the other sites i use right now...wish more artists i like would move here!! well thats about it i suppose...!!!!! til next time TTYL
yeah maybe i should put a notice on my page that my work will contain mature themes.. well... i'll add it later. when i do maybe i will edit this journal to restate it because i should probably warn particulars.
my characters dont actually live in a world where its acceptable to be running around naked and i dont even like the idea of drawing any of mine other than those two fully nude. these two just are not technically 'people' the way the others are so i dont apply the same ways of thinking to them. as i said they were not born. they were created via idk supernatural planetary magic. i had been referring to it as cosmic energy but that can imply a deity(in my mind idk if thats really true) and outerspace and something external so i no longer refer to it as such. they are 'born' out of a river after the appearance of a bright light. i chose a river bc of the significance of moving water and bc if they come out of the water naked it emulates birth and being wet from the amniotic fluid.
all this to say they do wear clothes!!!!!!!!!!! i will eventually figure out what i want them to look like and youll see.
to explain the description of my most recent art submission at time of writing, these characters are technically 'one' person. they are a split soul i guess. they each have gaps that the other fills and because they are made from planetary energy they have 'special abilities' that serve more as hindrances such as receiving visions. and they are somewhat defective in a way and one may become weak and briefly rejoin the planet/just sort of disappear, leaving the other to take their place. they can also meld into one body. one of them is 'male' and one is 'female' so im kind of thinking the melded body should be null. that idea has other significance you can maybe pick up on from the drawing.
