Fun Fact(s): My family lived in Alaska for nearly 20 years and only recently moved to VT! I do feel a little homesick for the last frontier ... a little like Bilbo coming back to the shire? I want to see MOUNTAINS again! These hills just won't do lol.  

Oh, I also thought of something else? I am currently learning swedish through duolingo! I just passed my 500 days milestone ... feels good to learn a little something about my family roots. ^^ uuuuh Jag talar fortfarande inte bra svenska. Jag bor här. ja.
 

Hobbies/Interests: Besides drawing!! I do professional work in publishing/graphic novels now, but I am super interested in expanding into other fields ... concept art, illustration, merch design, PLUSH TOYS, etc. I LOVE working with my hands and do a bit of knitting and sewing when I'm not dreaming up new story pitches. I also love to read ... brushing up on some classic fantasy and sci-fi lately. Dune, Chanur, Earthsea, The Witcher etc.

Dream Job: CURRENTLY LIVING IT; I get to write graphic novels for kids!! This is all super super new, though and I am still adjusting to thinking of myself as a professional? My first book (crabapple trouble) came out quietly last year, and my second book just came out this summer! It was such a rush getting these done, and I have been having a little creative break for the last few months... More exciting things in the pipeline, though! BIG SECRETS!!!

Favorite Medium: digital!! I do enjoy mucking around with mixed media in a sketchbook ... but that's not something I share online much? It's for my eyes only =w=

Favorite Period of Art:  medieval art (byzantine era, baby!!), impressionism

How Long Have You Been Creating: SO LONG!!! I can't remember a time when I was NOT writing or making art. Getting my paws on digital tools fundamentally changed the way I created, though ... 2009-2013 were the years that I developed my painting workflow and really started making things I was satisfied with.

How You Learned: how to draw anime tutorials!! J Dillon published some AMAZING resources online in the early 2000s ... they inspired me to really hone and explore characters. I also went to college and hold a (partial) BFA in traditional illustration. Not shy at all about saying my department head told me to drop out during my midpoint review? I think he recognized that I was making portfolio-ready work in my freetime and not in my assignments lol. I started my webcoming that year, too ... and now it's a published book! LEGIT NO REGRETS!!!  

How Long It Usually Takes You to Make Something: I do research and ruminate for long periods ... but when I set out to actually draw, I am very fast! I think because I mostly create sketches and impressions ... nothing about my work is very refined at all? I try to capture expressions and shapes quickly because I like the loose energy ... and I think other people like that too! Urk, my books were both done on very tight deadlines ... 9 months each ... that's SO FAST ... I am still so tired lol. 

The Big Project You Haven't Gotten Around To Yet: uuuuuh my nameless epic fantasy novel I have been writing since middleschool. It's about magic ... and aliens living in alternate realities ... and boys with problems!! All my favorite things ^^
