the flower fruit jungle region exists underneath the sky island archipelago, meaning it often receives little to no sunlight during certain periods of the daytime. as a result, the foliage of the local plant species have evolved to be black in order to absorb the most amount of sunlight as possible. to supplement what they don't get from the sun, many of the plant life is also partially carnivorous.
