another concept that's almost a year old, just wanted to repost it to have it on here and also for mermay!!

Oddly, they weren't originally inspired by me seeing a specific interpretation of hippocamps; and were instead heavily inspired by southern resident orcas! That's why in the three kingdoms that have a large hippocamp population they use the term "Grandmother" as a monarch title. I made my hippocamps have a normal horse body so that characters wouldn't be totally restricted to the water! Also they have finned manes instead of a normal horse mane because I like them better for hippocamps.

They don't have super, super different biology from a normal equine. Not much to comment on! Their fins can come in many, many shapes and sizes, I have three hippocamp characters uploaded in my gallery if you're interested in seeing how that would look.
