Before we begin Cenozoic Tyrants is a new alt spec project of mine where it takes place in a timeline where the Tyrannosaurids had survived the KPg mass extinction (more specifically Asiatyrannus) and had filled all of the major carnivorous niches.

Protacanthosqualus allosauroides (meaning "Allosaurus-like before Acanthosqualus") was a 3 ton Acanthosqualid Cenotyrannosaur that lived in Mongolia 40 to 33 million years ago. This theropod primarily hunts Brontotheres and other large mammals but will occasionally hunt smaller Tyrannosaurs. They and all other Acanthosqualids had evolved to resemble the Carcharodontosaurs of old.
