There's a couple of reasons why Smolder hooked up with Gallus originally. At least two of them are on display here.

It occurred to me while making this comic that this is the first time Gem Feather neither appears nor is mentioned or discussed, directly or indirectly. That actually gave me brief pause, but then I decided the comic is literally called "Smollus," so I'm excused to do stop and throw in some shipping fuel every now and then.

It also occurred to me that Ocellus has yet to appear in this comic without a table or desk in front of her. :p
