Yup, you guessed it! Another one of my trainersona Aryn's pokemon!
This Ivysaur is much based on the Ivysaur sprite from Pokemon Red/Blue, that stands on its hind legs! Always found that charming...
Pteris was actually another young trainer's starter! In Kanto, a little boy chose Bulbasaur to start his journey, but on their trip through Mt. Moon, Pteris took a rock slide to protect his trainer, injuring himself and severely damaging his bulb. A later inspection at the Pokemon Center revealed Everstone dust to be stuck inside, and partially absorbed by the Bulbasaur already... The little boy was crushed, not only did his pokemon get injured for their carelessness, it might also have problems developing further to help him.
The boy spent some days in Cerulean unsure what to do, and Aryn couldn't help but notice the boy's conversations at the Pokemon Center, and decided to step in! Already having a few younger pokemon for adoption due to the daycare work, Aryn offered to trade a new starter to take in the injured Bulbasaur as a rescue. The boy and Pteris both agreed it would be for the best, and with a final hug, parted ways... Aryn promised to take good care of him, and told the boy he could visit them in Galar anytime!
As Pteris adapted to the new, calmer life, he managed to retain enough energy to evolve into Ivysaur, but that's as much as his body can grow! He helps with plants and berry trees at Aryn's daycare, it makes him feel better seeing these plants thrive, and is best friends with Zeke, the Charizard!
He's a little grumpy and not much for socializing but is satisfied with his new purpose in life. (And yes his previous trainer does visit sometimes!)
