My trainersona Aryn's first pokemon and best friend! Made a good detailed ref for him <3
Totodile was the first starter I ever picked, when playing Pokemon Silver as a kid, my first game of the franchise!
Aryn met this little guy as a Totodile, a gift so he could become a trainer! His name, Wataru, comes from the little crack on his back fin having this W shape ever since they met, and Wani became his affectionate nickname after a little bit!
Wani fights with his jaws most of all, and Aryn's training as a new and not so great trainer put them in danger many times, facing only pokemon that would attack them first and causing Wani to sustain many injuries.
At first he was stronger than the wild pokemon, but as they started getting stronger in later routes and Wani couldn't catch up in level, he started getting really hurt, Aryn felt bad of course, though Wani always seemed confident to keep going, but he really gave up on battling after his second pokemon didn't survive this reckless training - a Dragonair named Ame he rescued from the Game Corner in Goldenrod as a Dratini (she was already frail and kinda sick from the bad conditions of the place) took a fatal blow to protect Wani and Aryn from a wild group of Tauros outside Ecruteak that gave Wani his chest scar then.
Wani had a big crush on her too, it was a rough loss for both of them, and one that left Wani really scared of seeing Dratinis/Dragonairs for a LONG time </3
From then on, Aryn decided he would never put Wani through danger again, and Wani remained determined to protect Aryn from danger so he would never lose a loved one again.
