Lexicon Smash 1/6 // September 2024 // highlighter, liner pen, felt-tip pen
References from SketchDaily Reference Site.
This was one of the ones we had to tone first. I was using a highlighter with a ruler, which was very nice, but the highlighter started to die, so I started scribbling with it (and supplementing with the tiniest amount of extra ink from a light blue felt-tip that I smudged out). When I was toning it, I wanted to add a little more of the gravity aspect, so I grabbed a pen and swung it between my fingers to make that messy hatching. Honestly, I'm not over-fond of it, but I suppose it adds something. The actual figures look nice. I think I ought to try more dynamic poses if I do a center-of-gravity or other weight-based study again.
Context:
This week's assignment was to take elements from last weeks Lexicon assignment, and combine them into new forms. I'm dubbing this process Lexicon Smash. There's also a couple where we had to borrow an element from a classmate - I'll get to that soon. Also, we had to tone half of them to a darker color to begin with, so some have strange backgrounds.
