if my grandmother had wheels she would have been a bike
this is something i've been thinking about for the past few days, mainly inspired by posts i've seen from (usually younger) artists asking how to become popular, sell adoptables, etc. which just to be clear i'm absolutely not trying to shame anyone! there's nothing wrong with wanting attention online lol
but yeah!! would you still draw if social media didn't exist? i definitely would, but i also think i wouldn't be at my current skill level without online art communities, there's so much i learned and keep learning from other artists! i think that's my favourite aspect of online art communities tbh, seeing how everyone draws and being inspired. but if online art sharing platforms just vanished tomorrow i wouldn't... stop? i love to draw and add to my oc's galleries, whether people see the art or not doesn't change my enjoyment ( ᐛ )و or rather of course i'm happy when people interact with my art! but not getting interaction isn't demoralising haha
but tbf i am kind of biased in this regard, i never used mainstream social media (closest i've come is tumblr where i exclusively reblog and never posted art anyway) and have been drawing longer than some people on this site have been alive, which actually makes me feel so old... ( ̄ω ̄;)
that said, i'd love to hear others' opinions on this!! i think it's an interesting topic ( ´ ▽ ` )ノ
