i literally cannot stop doiong these i love answering questions about my self
Weirdly Specific Artist Questions
Art programs you have but don't use
i think i use all the programs i have at some point or another. i guess like, tux paint goes the least used?
Is it easier to draw someone facing left or right (or forward even)
left! i feel like this one depends a lot on what your dominant hand is. i do good with forward on felines and less so for eveyrthing else
What ideas come from when you were little
i've always had particular fascinations when it comes to drawing, like my fixation on pointy-faced character designs i cling onto characters designed like this easily like Swatch but i've also put it on characters that didn't have it and designed characters with it like a billion times since i was young. i've also always had a fixation on dinosaur tails and drawing characters as (sentient) plushies since i was a kid. most of my art quirks come from there, if you ask me to draw anything without planning or referencing i'll have drawn the same thing for a long time now
Fav character/subject that's a bitch to draw
computers and digital UI is insane to draw/paint but i love it so mauch . pterosaurs and Swatch as well their facial features are really hard to get down in a way that makes sense (THE GLASSES ON A BEAK) BUT ESPECIALLY especially ESPECIALLY their hair. it turns out so different every time and i NEVER like it especially on their ref sheets..
Estimate of how much of your art you post online vs. the art you keep for yourself
i really only post a fraction of it, most of it remains in a really rough sketch stage but there's also a ton of stuff that's either for very specific people or just isn't for public audiences. im trying to get over my weird self-imposed shame over 'unfinished' work so we'll see how that goes
Anything that might inspire you subconsciously (e.g. this horse wasn't supposed to look like the Last Unicorn but I see it)
not sure honestly! when i pull from stuff to be inspired from it's usually things im already known to like/use as inspiration or admit to pulling design elements from it directly. i love to do style mimicry though sometimes it does jump out on accident occasionally
A medium of art you don't work in but appreciate
anything to do with music it's INSANE also sculpting and 3d renders (though i have dabbled in 3d renders before and i'd like to do so again)
What's an old project idea that you've lost interest in
unfortunately i have very few projects i've actually progressed on enough to actually lose interest in later rather than staying in such a unformed state i couldnt get attached to anyway. i had a "fighting talking animal book" (think things like warrior cats or watership down, wings of fire maybe? never read that one) style project about dinosaurs but i made it when i was 13 and it needs such a heavy rewrite to scrape the unsavory things from it's roots i've never gotten around to it
What are your file name conventions
look it's really bad but it's just keysmashes all the way down look at this shit
i used to do really specific naming conventions ( [Charactername][Theme/Pose][Number] ex. SwatchDespair12 ) but i stopped at some point out of laziness and i really need to start again because i cant fucikng find anything
Favorite piece of clothing to draw
every character gets arm/legwarmers and i will not be stopped. i also like drawing collared shirts and literal collars as well
Do you listen to anything while drawing? If so, what
musics and streamer vods usually RTVS ones ill be honest . if theres no sound when im drawing i start bleeding from every orfice
Easiest part of body to draw
i really like to draw the eyes, faces and snouts/beaks on anthro characters because it comes very easy to me and i like thinking about the subtle anthropomorphism nuances in different character designs. digitigrade legs and feet (especially bird feet) feel very natural in my hands and i love to draw it as well
A creator who you admire but whose work isn't your thing
i am the ignorer
Any favorite motifs
if you tell me to stop putting cartoon halos and wings on everything ill start crying and throwing up i also really like windows (like, computer Windows and the normal glass kind)
Where do you draw (don't drop your ip address this just means do you doodle at a park or smth)
in my dark room with peeling walls with no floor at my computer desk (desktop user 4 ever) and my fucking Gamer Chair
Something you are good at but don't really have fun doing
SUPER smooth and steady line art. it is my pride and joy but it hurts me physically
Do you eat/drink when drawing? if so, what
NO eating if a crumb or oil manifests near me ill start bleeding again but i usually have an tea or a large sodar
An estimate of how much art supplies you've broken
i never break anything because im insane and cry if anything gets slightly damaged or shows wear and this ALWAYS HAPPENS so i treat everything like glass and it gets worn anyway because thats how it works
Favorite inanimate objects to draw (food, nature, etc.)
computers and technology ofcoures. paintbrushes . im really unskilled with objects actually but i like painting vague nature scenes
Something everyone else finds hard to draw but you enjoy
digitigrade legs and hands to an extent !
Art styles nothing like your own but you like anyways
i am the forgetter and dont know how to describe anything
What physical exercises do you do before drawing, if any
i don't . enter my world
Do you use different layer modes
rarely but sometimes mostly for semitransparency
Do your references include stock images
anything that works is used doesnt matter what it is
Something your art has been compared to that you were NOT inspired by
one time someone compared my art to h*mestuck and i got so mad i left forever DO NOT SAY THAT TO ME!!!!!!!!!!! its not even TRUE
What's a piece that got a wildly different interpretation from what you intended
don't think this has happened
Do you warm up before getting to the good stuff? If so, what is it you draw to warm up with
i draw some sort of aninal or feak to get my hand used to it again. like a default pointyface animal
Any art events you have participated in the past (like zines)
i've never done one of these because i am not reliable for it UNFORTUNATELY but id love to
Media you love, but doesn't inspire you artistically
honestly not sure i feel like most things i like inspire me in some way even if not directly
What piece of yours do you think is underrated
STARING INTO THE SUN exclusively because i worked on that thing for like 4 months and it gave me SO MUCH hell ive never worked on something that long consistently before
