Hyenas and wolves follow different genetic "rules" for their markings, so while I could not copy Asani's design 1:1, i did my best to translate the colors in a way that would leave him realistic and recognizable.

Growing up i was always more comfortable and familiar with cat and wolf anatomy, and if i had more self discipline and less social and household problems as a child, i probably would have joined into the wolfaboo culture of the early 2000's haha. Entering into real story writing only now, my idea for a story just suited hyenas best, and it's been hard learning how to draw and research an entirely different animal.

Sometimes I still think about what it would be like if i just made a wolf or warrior cats comic from the get-go. Certainly would have been easier! But hyenas are cool animals and I'm set on my path.

No references, (though the general style of back markings has been inspired by the more new-age wolf designs inherent to RP groups) no extra lineart layers, took about an hour and a half.
