I am OBSESSED with Chromakopia. I'm on my 5th listen rn and I just cannot get it out of my head !!!
This isn't the first time I've hyperfixated on a Tyler album (see my Igor hyperfixation circa sometime in 2022). But this one feels so different somehow? I find so much about the composition of the music so interesting, it loops in my brain on shuffle, like a new song every couple hours will start looping. I find the use of the mother's commentary also really interesting.
The parallels to Igor also intrigue me so much !! like the colour swap and some musical motifs eeee
To be honest, I'm always a bit weary when music artists do longer albums :/ If it's not done well it can really sour the album for me. This kinda happened with Joji's Nectar album, felt like a couple songs were made and the rest were just there to fill out the album almost. This is all to say Tyler HIT IT OUT THE PARK AAA
I don't even think there's a song I really dislike in the album. It all feels so purposeful and they all flow even though the style changes almost every song !? I absolutely adore how he played with so many different samples and beats, it's truly a cacophony of sound /pos
Songs that stood out for me were St. Chroma, I killed you, Take Your Mask Off, Like Him, and Balloon because they are ones I keep going back to. But tbh I could put all the songs on that list if I was more lenient XD.

If you want a perfect intro song to set the theme of an album, St. Chroma is where you look. Not only is it an amazing song, but it also helps us get introduced to Tyler's persona for the album, along with paralleling the intro to Igor ! It's so chilling, yet beautiful. The harmonies used in it along with the minor chord sends chills down my spine. It also perfectly contrasts Rah Tah Tah which comes right after!
I Killed You pulls off an incredible musical shift halfway through the album. I can't wrap my head around how he even pulled it off. You think the song's going one way and he flips it on it's head... and it works ???? Incredible. Another great example about picking instruments for a song and working them in regardless of different they may sound. The main sample had also become a vocal stim for me now >_> it's just too damn catchy !!!! It gives me the funky sampling vibes of something like Jet Set Radio, but with an entirely different backing track ? idk how to describe it !
The intro to Balloon actually reminded me of Lapfox songs lol, it was genuinely a whiplash moment when I first heard it 0_0
Nonetheless it's ofcourse a banger, what more is there to say? That's a rhetorical question btw. This song blends a penis music(?)-esque sample set along with classic Tyler lyricism. I love the contrast Doechii with her lyrics, it's so fun and bouncy, great for parties/raves with that bpm or for just vibing out to along ^^
Darling, I gets an honorary mention for the main beat reminding me of that one vine LMAO ...and also the poly message abt the song, it's really interesting to hear someone making music about it, especially someone so mainstream. Tyler can't help but break the mold and I love it !
Take Your Mask Off and Like Him really impacted me. They brought out so emotion in me. Take your mask off is something I needed to hear. I keep playing with the concept of masking myself and hiding my identity / giving up on my dreams for the sake of my own mental health and energy. Hearing something like this reminds me that I can never be happy that way, I need to learn to love and be more patient with myself (and tbh Tyler should too goddamn !)
Like him brought back feelings of a different kind. General dysphoria and some parental abuse stuff really make me constantly want to try and be the daughter I was seen as when I was younger, and this song encapsulates that feeling for me (even if the original meaning is different). Chasing a person who you don't even know or remember anymore for the sake of others, God, it hit close to home.
Overall I just cannot stop jamming to this album !!!!!!! I wish it was like 10 billion years longer but also like, it's the perfect length. 10/10 because I decide how much I like an album >:)
