what year did you start traditional art?
i remember doing a lot of paintings and stuff when i was little so.. uhm.. some time in the 2010s??? i can't really answer this one specifically.
what year did you start digital art?
oh oh i miiiight know this one. 2017.
how many brushes do you have downloaded?
i use ibispaint so i couldn't tell you how many default ones i have, but i have 13 downloaded.
how many brushes do you use?
usually just 1, although if i'm doing something like a scene i'll use maybe 3 or 4 others for textures and stuff, or for getting gradients.
usual canvas size?
1000 x 1000 but i draw quite small on the canvas so the actual art ends up as a smaller cropped version. can be up to 1500 or 2000px if i'm doing something more detailed, banners, proper refs etc.
how many files are in your art folder?
200 images in my ibispaint folder on my phone, 170 canvases on ibis rn, only around 12 on my computer from firealpaca.
how many files are in your references folder?
i don't have a folder specifically for refs.
how many self-inserts/fursonas/personas have you had?
ohh now i really have to think... 3 current main fursonas, 4th one i'm not sure if he will stay a sona.
ive had 2 other fursonas in the past, luna the jackalope and yuna the umi (wow, so creative... /sarc).
at least 2 personas / self inserts.
so i'll guess 7.
how many pictures of your current self-insert/fursona/persona?
my main fursona star has 60 images on toyhouse but there are loads more sketches i never uploaded.
my secondary fursona sylvan has 17 uploaded images.
the other secondary scarlett has 4.
how many ocs do you have?
according to toyhouse, 291... i only use my sonas mostly but i have some arpg characters that occasionally get used. a lot of them are gathering dust and need clearing out eventually.
how many pictures of your oldest oc?
i do not know who my oldest was. it was probably a warrior cat or something...
how many pictures of your favourite character?
- sylvan is my current favourite.
how many graphics tablets have you owned? (if none, how many phones/tablets?)
i have 1 pen tablet (XPPen Star G430S). i used to do my art on a galaxy tablet but then switched to my current phone which has a way better screen. also yeah i'm a finger artist.
how many notepads/sketchpads do you own?
from what i can find right now, 4 notepads and 3 sketchbooks.
how many pencil/paintbrush sets do you own?
i have 1 set of pencils i've barely used at all. paintbrushes i'm not sure, i don't use them. i have some ohuhu markers that i also don't use... lol
free space! any other fun numbers?
571, it's zoroark's pokedex number
hiya! i decided to make a persona/alt account to post anything I don't want on my main.
you can find it here: star.
the name 'star' actually comes from my fursona.
fun fact: I named myself after the brightest star in the aquila constellation. so i decided to name my sona star because well... i'm named after one. my newest sona has a tiny bit more to his name and design than that though, i hope to post him here soon so i'll maybe explain it then (well, it isn't that much but yeah-)
also, i really like the whole thing with persona accounts. there's a lot you can do with them, and i'd like to test it out a little more myself someday. maybe i'll make one or two specifically for my other sonas? i don't think i'd ever have one only for star, because they're more of a truesona in the way that they're extremely similar to me.
i recently started to make a playlist for songs i think would either fit my sona sylvan or that he would listen to, but i think having an entire profile themed around them would be pretty cool.
ohhhh this is a long one... enjoy. yoinked this from ducclord.
Art programs you have but don't use?
blender. i needed it for my game dev course; i dropped out in the second year but i still keep it installed cuz i might get into modelling stuff again in the future. right now I just dont have the patience for it though. i have firealpaca but ive only recently started using it to practice drawing with my pen tablet.
Is it easier to draw someone facing left or right (or forward even)?
left or 3/4 view (... still left).
What ideas come from when you were little?
i dont know...
Fav character/subject that's a bitch to draw?
reshiram or lunala... or just any human characters with slightly complex clothing. oh also, i'd love to draw lady ventuswill but she has a lot of feathers.
Estimate of how much of your art you post online vs. the art you keep for yourself?
i only plan to post finished stuff here, but i post some sketches on twitter. however a lot of my art just gets kept to myself now, and theres a lot of sketches from the past few months i'll never post. usually i'll just throw stuff on toyhouse if its art of my own characters.
Anything that might inspire you subconsciously?
rune factory and genshin probably. i played rune factory a lot as a kid, and i had a huge fixation on genshin during the covid lockdown so i'm sure some aspects of those styles have made their way into my art, i just dont realise it anymore.
A medium of art you don't work in but appreciate?
i appreciate a lot of different mediums, but i have a huge appreciation for fursuit makers. that kinda thing takes a lot of work, and i aspire to do that myself someday. yes, i know i should work towards my dreams sooner rather than later, but i dont have the money for it right now.
What's an old project idea that you've lost interest in?
lopexia / land of echirea. im still happy with what i tried to do with it, but its so much work writing lore and magic systems and stuff for an arpg species and i just dont want to do it anymore. lopexia were guardians of a post-human extinction earth renamed to echirea that had been reclaimed by nature, they were bonded to plants, trees and fungi. i had another idea for a part of that world that a soul from pre-echirea/earth had reincarnated into a lopexia and decided to figure out how the existence of humans ended, but i never built much on it.
oh and i had a warrior cats clan in progress but designing that many cats is a pain.
What are your file name conventions?
i use ibispaint, so i dont have to name files before i make them. that also means i just dont. so 99% of the time, theyre untitled with a load of numbers.
Favorite piece of clothing to draw?
ribbons or collars.
Do you listen to anything while drawing? If so, what?
music or youtube videos. usually music. at night i draw in silence though cuz its when everythings finally quiet and i dont usually have to listen to my noisy neighbours.
Easiest part of body to draw?
the head and ears.
A creator who you admire but whose work isn't your thing?
hmmm.. maybe beauty of the bass? i admire their fursuits a lot, especially the speaker suits. bass has a very unique style but its not the kind of suit id actually want, im more into the kemono and kigurumi styles.
Any favorite motifs?
stars/sparkles, uhhhhh..
Where do you draw?
in my room. usually on my bed. as much as id love to go out and draw somewhere outside like a forest just cuz i like those sorta places, i cant drive right now. and i live out in the middle of nowhere. and well, my field isnt the ideal place to sit unless i go right up to the end but people sometimes walk down there for some reason...
Something you are good at but don't really have fun doing?
if i actually tried, i think i could make some pretty cool oc stories and lore. as a maladaptive daydreamer, i can imagine a lot of cool stuff but when it comes to writing it i suck at getting the words out and i dont really enjoy doing it that much. properly fleshing out characters is only fun when im fixated on it. the same goes for osu mapping, im a beginner with it but i dont suck at it, and i think i could be good at it if i tried. however, its incredibly time consuming and listening to the same portion of a song over and over gets tiring. when i was in school i used to be quite good at maths and english, but i disliked both of those subjects.
Do you eat/drink when drawing? if so, what?
i dont... not unless im reminded. my body doesnt usually tell me to drink until im getting dehydrated, or to eat until im really hungry, i just dont get the urge to that much. as im typing this im drinking water though, cuz i actually remembered to fill the glass. i have to keep it next to me or i'll forget to drink again lol.
An estimate of how much art supplies you've broken?
im a digital artist so uhm i havent broken any of the supplies i currently use yet, which is just my phone and more recently my laptop and pen tablet-
Favorite inanimate objects to draw (food, nature, etc.)?
flowers, trees, just nature in general. im not great at scenes but i have a huge love for plants and fungi.
Something everyone else finds hard to draw but you enjoy?
what do people find hard to draw?? ive heard some people say lineless is harder but when i first started digital art, i started out mostly as a lineless artist so it became a natural thing to me. i dont do it so much now for full artworks, but if im trying to get a design idea down ill just do it lineless with the lasso tool.
Art styles nothing like your own but you like anyways?
scene/sparklefurries have cool art, its just not something ive really tried yet. same for the 2000s anime style and rune factory's illustrations. LAM's art style is another i love, their eyes are recognisable anywhere. i could list a lot more styles but im lazy.
What physical exercises do you do before drawing, if any?
erm... does hugging a cat count?
Do you use different layer modes?
yeah.
Do your references include stock images?
uhh no, i dont think so? i guess its just whatever i end up finding though.
Something your art has been compared to that you were NOT inspired by?
i dont get my art compared to anything so idk.
What's a piece that got a wildly different interpretation from what you intended?
dont really have an answer for this.
Do you warm up before getting to the good stuff? If so, what is it you draw to warm up with?
usually just a quick sketch or two of my sonas or a simple pokemon like umbreon.
Any art events you have participated in the past (like zines)?
i havent really been in any.
Media you love, but doesn't inspire you artistically?
a lot of my main fixations/special interests right now have probably influenced me in some way, but i cant really think of any media that im currently into that hasn't inspired me at all. maybe some stuff i like but not really active interests.
What piece of yours do you think is underrated?
my recent-ish stuff gets the usual attention; just a few likes. so none of them really feel underrated cuz they dont get a lot of attention in the first place. however, if i were to choose a design i made that didnt do as well as i thought it wouldve, its this one. it didn't end up selling so i kept it, but it was one of my best looking umi designs in my opinion.
i got lazy at the end haha, that was a lot of typing...
I've spent a few years trying to find new people to talk to, but I get pretty nervous and I've only really managed to find a couple of smaller ARPG discord servers that I've felt comfortable just starting up conversations in. Recently I've been pushing myself to do small interactions, commenting on posts and actively searching for mutuals. I struggle a bit with small talk, I never know how to keep it going, so it is far easier for me to just jump into a server or dm and act like we've spoken before.
Also, if you're one of my mutuals here already, hi! I'll try my best to interact with you often, but you're always welcome to dm me on discord.
First, a bit about me! :
- 18 years old
- Non-binary (they/them)
- Autistic
- Digital artist, OC creator mostly drawing my fursonas though.
- Furry. I don't have a fursuit but I'd like to make one someday; I'm currently learning to make paws.
- I love music, including vocaloid/utau/synthv etc. I also play a few rhythm games.
Please interact if...
- you're 16+
- you're an artist of any kind, whether it's traditional, digital, photography or something else!
- you create original characters.
- you like birds or just nature in general. I occasionally go birdwatching and birds are a special interest of mine, I'd like to find more people who also share this interest. I enjoy taking photos of natural scenery and animals, although I wouldn't say I'm much of a photographer... cameras are expensive aghh.
- you're a furry or just like anthropomorphic animals and/or fursuits.
- you like pokemon, whether its the games, anime, cards or even if you're into the competitive side. while I am not a VGC player, I am interested in it. pokemon has been a special interest of mine for many years.
- you like anime/manga ( my favourites + watchlist )
- you like vocaloids/utauloids/synthv music and/or their games. I sometimes play Project Diva/Sekai when I feel like it (I've been playing osu! a lot more lol), but I listen to a lot of vocaloid music. here's my playlist!
whether only one or none of these apply to you, or maybe a lot of these do, I'm always up to chat! if I think of anything else to add here, I will, it's just hard to think of things to list.
please comment here first if you plan on dming me, it just gives me a bit of a heads up. we can talk in the comments too if you'd prefer!
(credit to lambda for starting this. I think PI lists are a lot more positive than DNIs, and honestly I think it's a great way to find new mutuals or friends)
I love doing these sorta things... so here's another I found.
Inspiration to become an artist: while I had always been the 'art kid' mostly drawing pokemon and rune factory monsters, I started to take art more seriously and pushed to improve around 12 years old. at the time I was really into Warrior Cats, and used to watch a lot of wc animations. this was quite a few years ago, but I think just before that time I also used to make Star Stable Online edits, which probably made me want to learn how to draw horses and scenes too.
Motivation to keep drawing: to get better..? I'm not sure anymore, I still like making characters. I enjoy drawing but sometimes it feels like I'm forcing myself to finish something. I lose motivation a lot, so a lot of my art has just been sketches recently. I'll get that motivation back eventually.
What influenced your artstyle?: pokemon, anime, kigurumi/kemono fursuits. there's probably a lot more I could list, but those are the main things.
Artstyle idol: I'm not really sure who I look up to right now. I tend to have a long list of inspirations rather than just one or two. I don't like to idolise artists/creators though.
Preferred medium: digital.
Favourite tools/programs: IbispaintX.
Mediums you want to try: I recently picked up sewing, I just haven't worked on it much yet. I have a sewing machine and some fur ready to have another go at making some fursuit paws (made a test pair just over a month ago with some cheap fur). plushie making is something I'd really like to have a go at soon. I've also been interested in painting landscapes / natural scenery for a long time, I just haven't done it yet as I don't really have the space or materials to do it. some day I will.
Most favourite thing to draw: my fursonas, anthro or feral felines, pokemon (mainly the fluffy ones.. or clodsire)
Least favourite thing to draw: robotic stuff, and hands. humans in general are okay depending on the day haha.
Preferred background noise: music or youtube videos (recently I've been leaving cdawgva, abroad in japan or trash taste videos on in the background).
Self taught or art classes?: self taught.
Construction lines or just draw it?: I don't really use construction lines. usually I make a silhouette of roughly what I want to draw, then do a rough version of the lineart and then go back to make a clean version. I used to just go straight into lineart but not so much anymore, I can though.
References or pure imagination?: mostly just from my imagination. if its something I'm unfamiliar with or I'm drawing a scene, I'll get a few references.
OC you draw the most: Star (my main fursona) and Sylvan (secondary sona).
Media character you draw the most: excluding mons, I sometimes draw Amethio or Spinel from pokemon horizons. I'd like to draw Grell Sutcliff again some time soon though.
Drawing you're most proud of: a lot of the drawings I'm most proud of were gifts to a partner I'm unfortunately not with anymore, but I guess I'm pretty proud of my new pagedoll. I hope I'll be able to make some new personal art that I can be proud of.
random story, but I remember a few drawings I made when I was a little kid though, I know I was really proud of them. One of them was a pokemon calendar I spent hours working on as a primary school art task, they put everyones calendars away somewhere when they were done but at the time they told me mine was the 'wrong size'. when it came time for everyone to get theirs back, they never gave me mine. another art project I did as part of homework in primary school with a different teacher was this huge beach scene I had worked a few nights on, it was all shaded and really detailed and I loved it. the teacher put it on display on the wall for a few months, but I came in one day to the display gone and my art rolled up in the rubbish bin.
