ohhhh this is a long one... enjoy. yoinked this from ducclord.
Art programs you have but don't use?
blender. i needed it for my game dev course; i dropped out in the second year but i still keep it installed cuz i might get into modelling stuff again in the future. right now I just dont have the patience for it though. i have firealpaca but ive only recently started using it to practice drawing with my pen tablet.
Is it easier to draw someone facing left or right (or forward even)?
left or 3/4 view (... still left).
What ideas come from when you were little?
i dont know...
Fav character/subject that's a bitch to draw?
reshiram or lunala... or just any human characters with slightly complex clothing. oh also, i'd love to draw lady ventuswill but she has a lot of feathers.
Estimate of how much of your art you post online vs. the art you keep for yourself?
i only plan to post finished stuff here, but i post some sketches on twitter. however a lot of my art just gets kept to myself now, and theres a lot of sketches from the past few months i'll never post. usually i'll just throw stuff on toyhouse if its art of my own characters.
Anything that might inspire you subconsciously?
rune factory and genshin probably. i played rune factory a lot as a kid, and i had a huge fixation on genshin during the covid lockdown so i'm sure some aspects of those styles have made their way into my art, i just dont realise it anymore.
A medium of art you don't work in but appreciate?
i appreciate a lot of different mediums, but i have a huge appreciation for fursuit makers. that kinda thing takes a lot of work, and i aspire to do that myself someday. yes, i know i should work towards my dreams sooner rather than later, but i dont have the money for it right now.
What's an old project idea that you've lost interest in?
lopexia / land of echirea. im still happy with what i tried to do with it, but its so much work writing lore and magic systems and stuff for an arpg species and i just dont want to do it anymore. lopexia were guardians of a post-human extinction earth renamed to echirea that had been reclaimed by nature, they were bonded to plants, trees and fungi. i had another idea for a part of that world that a soul from pre-echirea/earth had reincarnated into a lopexia and decided to figure out how the existence of humans ended, but i never built much on it.
oh and i had a warrior cats clan in progress but designing that many cats is a pain.
What are your file name conventions?
i use ibispaint, so i dont have to name files before i make them. that also means i just dont. so 99% of the time, theyre untitled with a load of numbers.
Favorite piece of clothing to draw?
ribbons or collars.
Do you listen to anything while drawing? If so, what?
music or youtube videos. usually music. at night i draw in silence though cuz its when everythings finally quiet and i dont usually have to listen to my noisy neighbours.
Easiest part of body to draw?
the head and ears.
A creator who you admire but whose work isn't your thing?
hmmm.. maybe beauty of the bass? i admire their fursuits a lot, especially the speaker suits. bass has a very unique style but its not the kind of suit id actually want, im more into the kemono and kigurumi styles.
Any favorite motifs?
stars/sparkles, uhhhhh..
Where do you draw?
in my room. usually on my bed. as much as id love to go out and draw somewhere outside like a forest just cuz i like those sorta places, i cant drive right now. and i live out in the middle of nowhere. and well, my field isnt the ideal place to sit unless i go right up to the end but people sometimes walk down there for some reason...
Something you are good at but don't really have fun doing?
if i actually tried, i think i could make some pretty cool oc stories and lore. as a maladaptive daydreamer, i can imagine a lot of cool stuff but when it comes to writing it i suck at getting the words out and i dont really enjoy doing it that much. properly fleshing out characters is only fun when im fixated on it. the same goes for osu mapping, im a beginner with it but i dont suck at it, and i think i could be good at it if i tried. however, its incredibly time consuming and listening to the same portion of a song over and over gets tiring. when i was in school i used to be quite good at maths and english, but i disliked both of those subjects.
Do you eat/drink when drawing? if so, what?
i dont... not unless im reminded. my body doesnt usually tell me to drink until im getting dehydrated, or to eat until im really hungry, i just dont get the urge to that much. as im typing this im drinking water though, cuz i actually remembered to fill the glass. i have to keep it next to me or i'll forget to drink again lol.
An estimate of how much art supplies you've broken?
im a digital artist so uhm i havent broken any of the supplies i currently use yet, which is just my phone and more recently my laptop and pen tablet-
Favorite inanimate objects to draw (food, nature, etc.)?
flowers, trees, just nature in general. im not great at scenes but i have a huge love for plants and fungi.
Something everyone else finds hard to draw but you enjoy?
what do people find hard to draw?? ive heard some people say lineless is harder but when i first started digital art, i started out mostly as a lineless artist so it became a natural thing to me. i dont do it so much now for full artworks, but if im trying to get a design idea down ill just do it lineless with the lasso tool.
Art styles nothing like your own but you like anyways?
scene/sparklefurries have cool art, its just not something ive really tried yet. same for the 2000s anime style and rune factory's illustrations. LAM's art style is another i love, their eyes are recognisable anywhere. i could list a lot more styles but im lazy.
What physical exercises do you do before drawing, if any?
erm... does hugging a cat count?
Do you use different layer modes?
yeah.
Do your references include stock images?
uhh no, i dont think so? i guess its just whatever i end up finding though.
Something your art has been compared to that you were NOT inspired by?
i dont get my art compared to anything so idk.
What's a piece that got a wildly different interpretation from what you intended?
dont really have an answer for this.
Do you warm up before getting to the good stuff? If so, what is it you draw to warm up with?
usually just a quick sketch or two of my sonas or a simple pokemon like umbreon.
Any art events you have participated in the past (like zines)?
i havent really been in any.
Media you love, but doesn't inspire you artistically?
a lot of my main fixations/special interests right now have probably influenced me in some way, but i cant really think of any media that im currently into that hasn't inspired me at all. maybe some stuff i like but not really active interests.
What piece of yours do you think is underrated?
my recent-ish stuff gets the usual attention; just a few likes. so none of them really feel underrated cuz they dont get a lot of attention in the first place. however, if i were to choose a design i made that didnt do as well as i thought it wouldve, its this one. it didn't end up selling so i kept it, but it was one of my best looking umi designs in my opinion.
i got lazy at the end haha, that was a lot of typing...
