After the Kovu/Kuamua piece a few days ago I felt like doing a little something on what exactly bugs the big guy about the cubs. I've wanted to update their designs anyway, so this was a nice chance to do that.

There's also some other points for each of them that didn't make it into the piece. These are mostly just what Kovu notices on his kids

Kuamua:

• Simba's/Kiara's red eyes that Kovu often interprets as Zira's
• actually Pridelander paws, but Kovu doesn't see that
• big ears (Outsider)
• dark eye rims (Outsider)
• Kovu sees: typical Outsider

Roho:

• Outsider paws
• dark eye rims (Outsider)
• big forward tuft on mane (Kovu)
• Kovu sees: Scar

Mkuu:

• basically a Zira lookalike in Kovu's eyes
• swept back tuft like Scar
• Pridelander paws, but Kovu doesn't see that
• Kovu sees: Zira

Saka:

• brown pelt reminds Kovu of himself as a cub
• Kovu sees: Nuka

I'm starting to think Kovu just doesn't understand how genetics work.
They're all a little younger here to show that even when they were little, Kovu already had things he silently complained about in his head. That's also why Roho and Mkuu don't have their Guard marks yet. Instead, they have a painted pawprint that signifies that they're basically in training to become the next guard.

I hope I didn't forget anything, I had a lot of thoughts while making this that I didn't immediately write down
(I'm in a flow of being satisfied with my art lately, I think this turned out really well again)
