Maybe they should have agreed on one parenting method...
This is kind of a mirror piece to the Kovu one. Kiara loves all her cubs, she wants them to have a normal cubhood without many responsibilities.
With Mkuu she knows he's having fun in the guard, Saka can basically do what he want, though he started expressing an interest in becoming a royal advisor early on.
But with Kuamua, she didn't want to start the royal lessons at all until Simba convinced her to think about the future of the kingdom. And Roho (the cub depicted) was chosen even earlier to someday take over the guard.
For Kiara, that's too much responsibility for the cubs. She herself had a fairly normal cubhood, her father having had to figure everything out himself, and Kion had started training late as well, with no previous leader there to teach him about the guard.
Maybe she and Kovu really should have talked about this before. Now Roho, used to the glances of disdain and expectations from his father towards him and his siblings, doesn't fully believe his mother anymore when she says he can just be a cub.
(So proud of this one too ahhh what's happening)
(And yes the different styles of the two are done on purpose)
