First post of Liontober in November. The poll was positive so I went and started with the first prompt: Great ruler of the past. For that, I chose Kamili, Jiwe's only grandson and Bakari's only validated heir. Kamili has 7 half-sisters and one full sister, all born before him, but none accepted as heir by their father. To Bakari's shock, however, Kamili grew to be vastly different than him.

The new king gave all his sisters (if they wanted) an important job in the pride. One of the became lead of the patrols (outrageous, I know), and his full sister Kukumbia was named leader of the Lion Guard. That guard even consisted almost solely of females. The only male in the guard, Ndevo, met his mate through his positions. Her you can see as the chosen diplomat of the kingdom. Kulaaniwa is the one Kamili always sends to represent the kingdom. Quite important, as far as lil old me can tell.

But what made Bakari freak out the most was the heir his perfect son chose. His daughter, Zawadi. She was Kamili's only cub, and instead of trying again for a male (as Bakari himself did time and time again), Kamili made her the future queen. Tipping point in that father-son relationship, I can tell you.

By establishing these changes, I think he played a big part in making the Pridelands more equal, pulling the focus of criteria on skills instead of gender. Which is why I chose him as front page for this event!
