all of a sudden i got swept up by the idea of leading a fan zine (likely a vocaloid/vocal synth zine bc that’s my home). i love zine projects and i think it would be cool to start one myself :3
(i am especially excited at the thought of making a little web page for it~)
it would also be a pretty casual project as my first go-around (so no physical release or merch, just a digital art collection that can be printed !!)
for anyone who’s helmed a fanzine project, i am curious if you have any advice on how to go about the creation and recruitment process.
what do interest check forms generally look like? what about artist applications? mod applications? 😳 (not sure if i’d want to recruit mods for my first project but expanding the scope sounds fun…. idk tho)
deadline pacing is probably the most daunting part of leading a collaborative project like this ;w; but again everything is just thoughts rn.
it just seems cool that’s all. my new goal for 2025 is to start a fanzine—i think it could happen if i do my research 🤭

one day i decided that i would actually lock in and make my website with my dusty neocities account and then i did
cobbling together lots of base codes (though for the art gallery, i actually did most of the layout/styling myself! maybe that is obvious haha but it was still a fun experience since i've never done css fully on my own before) and actually having a vision for what i want my site to hold helped motivate me to actually populate it with stuff.
all the nav links on the home page are functional, though some are temporary and lead to an existing relevant social-media post for now :,)
my about, blog/writing, art gallery, guestbook, and qotd+draw something (aka strawpages in disguise) are all set!
my main priority amidst my academic obligations is to draw some assets for the website (such as for my about page, a mascot for the front page, and a favicon for the full site)

haiii just wanted to prattle on about my latest adventures. i am overcoming academic struggles at the moment but once im free by the end of the week i’ll have a lot of time to work on a fanfiction project, based on miitopia!!!
i have probably alluded to it here before thru my great sage oc (my current profile picture) and i have probably even hinted that its a very big oversized crossover with a bunch of rewritten fanlore and at least One character death……. i am going all in and have been having a blast :))
i likely won’t post it on any platforms like ao3 due to the personal nature of the whole thing (i have been building up my love since miitopia first came out) and the lore rewrites and also because fandom tagging it will be a nightmare (i’d wager i’d have to acknowledge like 30 fandoms when accounting for characters that appear in one minor throwaway role) but you may see some accompanying illustrations and fan designs posted here/on the persona account as i make my way through the story -w-
my main end goal is to not only finish the fic but to actually format it for print and actually get it physically made. i found a printing service that i like recently that can get it made for around 20ish dollars at most (depending on the length which i don’t know yet obviously). and thats with color (i want some decorative flourishes on each page!!) and with a hard cover (the price is significantly lower with a softcover…. i was mainly scoping out how high i could go 😳)
i think that motivation is enough to get me to write, write, write more than ever. can’t wait to see it through in my lifetime ….. aaaaa!!!
(and yes i have been replaying miitopia again just to freshen up on the events for the story -u-)
