drawing backgrounds is hard (breaking news everybody) and mine's been stagnating for a while because i'm stuck on a roadblock. basically if you can't do detailed lineart you go the painterly route and rely on tonal variations and abstract brush strokes to create visual interest, and if you struggle with colors you dunk all skillpoints in lineart and create visual interest by drawing little details that way and keeping the colors more simple (and, of course, if you're god tier industry mammoth you can do both at the same time)
and you can also be me and struggle with both really fine detailed linearts and really complex varied color palettes so you gotta find the way to develop a style that has just enough lineart and just enough colors to look pleasing to the eye, and i'm once again starting to feel like it's impossible. and i know, nothing's impossible with enough practice so i'll keep going but i needed to whine so thanks for reading lol
