...It was totally so to reference Star Trek II.
Anyway, this has been a long time coming. I've long heard from many other comic-makers that if you can letter your comics yourself instead of using a font, that's the way to go, as it's more creative and personalized. But I haaaaate lettering by hand, so instead I've compromised, and made a custom font modeled upon my own print handwriting, fittingly called "Scyphi Script." This comic is partly an excuse to both publicly debut it and to give it a proper shakedown at long last, and it will be my new go-to font for comic dialogue moving forward.
But in so doing, I felt like I owed VTC Letterer Pro, the font I'd up to now been using for this role for well over a decade, a salute for it's many years of service. So this is my tongue-in-cheek way of doing so.
Also for this comic, as something of an experiment, the speech bubbles, dialogue, and onomatopoeia text were all added separately with Inkscape, given that Krita is limited it's text art abilities at present time and I'm working at moving away from Photoshop. It turned out okay, but ran into numerous hiccups along the way that would need resolving if I'm to do it again, and more likely I'm probably just going to use it for the onomatopoeia text instead of dialogue and speech bubbles. But we'll see.
