Repost from October 2020, and so naturally, it was a seasonal themed gag.
Inktober for that year had been on and I was seeing a lot of people doing Halloween-related artwork and it got me wanted to do something similar for this, so I did. Probably the hardest part of this one though was figuring out how to clearly render an environment in the autumn season, at night, in greyscale, without too many of the colors blending together and looking the same. To this day, I'm still uncertain how well I succeeded at that. So while it was an interesting challenge, it's not one I'd want to repeat anytime soon, at least not on this scale of an environment.
Also worth noting is that I gave our two leads elytra (beetle-like protective coverings for their wings) that they'd previously lacked entirely and are not canonical for pre-reformation MLP changelings, a sign I was starting to experiment and tweak the concept more to personal taste and the first signs of eventually moving to reboot the project entirely as I am now currently in the process of doing.
