The amrijas were still eating up space in my head so drew another one for practice. I'm slowly getting the hang of wolverines and my drawings are looking less and less like wolves. Now if only I get them to be distinct from bears as well...
Expanding on what I mentioned in the previous upload:
The amrija form is similar in many ways to the canon oozaru transformation saiyan's have in Toriyama's world. It occurs involuntarily on full moon, requiring eye contact with the moon to trigger it. It's a kaiju-sized semi-anthropomorphic animal with unnatural powers and most saiyans can't control it or remember the events that took place while they were transformed. Some can learn to control it and even speak while in that form. The saiyan's tail is a crucial body part in the matter and if removed, will prevent the saiyan from transforming.
That's about where the similarities end. In Tharinas the saiyans have a rather different history, which also affects the dynamics of their transformation. Saiyans are an artificial hybrid species, originally manufactured and enslaved by another species that sought the labor power and military might that this could gain them. So saiyans had owners and handlers, and they were seen as expendable and replaceable. They didn't free themselves on their own, but that is so far back in history the story of what happened has been revised to suit whatever purposes. Due to being artificial hybrids, saiyans in Tharinas didn't quite ever find their place in the world and their rough history tangibly affected and corrupted their culture until the bitter end.
