I'm SoftenStar! But you can call me Audrey. :3

The draw-to-adopts are now live on my Deviantart! :3 They're a bit weird lol but feel free to check them out if you're interested.
I'll be posting adopts to my DeviantART later: https://www.deviantart.com/thecreatorofsoften
They'll be posted sometime after my short work shift today. I want to try to make one more adopt first but we'll see if that happens. I also might try to watch an episode of Record of Lodoss War first while I eat my after work lunch lol. I'm predicting they'll be posted sometime between 4pm-5pm but depending on how fast I do things after work it could be earlier (but not before 3:30pm). (these times are central US time btw)
They'll be draw-to-adopts again. Same general rules as last time. You'll comment which number(s) you wish to adopt and I'll reserve them for you. You'll then have a week to draw whichever adopts we've reserved, and once you've drawn them they're officially yours. If you end up needing more time to draw your adopt(s) please let me know (you don't need to explain why, just let me know if you need more time ^^ ).
I'll probably make another post right before I post the actual adopts. So yeah, look out for those if you're interested. :3 They're...a little weird this time lol.
As the title says, I'm working on some more random color palette adopts. They'll be draw-to-adopts again.
The adopts will be posted on my DeviantART: https://www.deviantart.com/thecreatorofsoften since that's still my main art website. It would be too confusing to post them both on DA and on Sheezy so they're gonna be on DA to make things less stressful for myself.
I'm estimating that I'll be posting them on Tuesday, but if things don't work out it could be on Sunday instead. I'd like to at least be off of work the day I post them so that I can respond to people quickly, but I'd also like to post them before May ends so it's a struggle. |D
idk if any of them are good lol but I'm mainly posting them as a adopts to prevent myself from making any of them into OCs...though if no one adopts them then I still could do that. |D I'll still make new OCs regardless, but I'm trying to slow down on that for now.
I'll make a journal on Tuesday that will mention whether or not the adopts will be posted that day so I'll make sure to keep everyone in the loop.
Late night life update journal time.
So the biggest news I have to share is that I'm officially an aunt today! My brother and his wife had a baby boy. I haven't met him yet but I've seen some pictures. Hoping to potentially visit them after my short work shift tomorrow, but we'll see how things work out.
I still feel a bit weird about being an aunt. XD Just saying that makes me feel old.
I've been making a ton of progress on character bio pictures lately. I have at least 15 bios that I'll be posting on DA and Toyhouse hopefully very soon...I just gotta make like 2-3 more pictures and bump that number up to like 17 or 18 lol....Get ready for the giant OC upload.
When I started making bio pictures for this story late last year, I was feeling pretty awful about how they were turning out and my art in general, but now I'm feeling a lot better about my human character bio pictures. Could they be better? Of course. But I'm no longer dreading making them. Just gotta work out some more designs and I should finally be making bios for my Red Witch characters next...or very soon at the least. I'm hoping this feeling doesn't leave me anytime soon.
Honestly, outside of "Project EVE" (the story I'm posting bios for sometime this week), The Red Witch, and a random unnamed Sci-fi story, most of my remaining stories have relatively small casts of characters (though a few have decent amounts). I'm really happy I've made it this far with my character bios. When I first started, having them all completed felt like a distant dream, but now that dream is in reach. Do I still have a ton of characters that need bios? Of course lol...but I've already done over 300 of them so the rest won't be so bad.
I also have beaten a few games recently, both of which I got for my birthday.
The first one is Princess Peach Showtime. Honestly it was pretty cute and fun. Not a very long or difficult game (unless you're going for 100% completion) but I enjoyed it. I think I would have really loved it as a kid, but now I'm a busy adult with a huge games backlog so sadly I must move onto other games, but eventually I'd like to go back and get more of the sparkle gems. I also hope Nintendo does more spinoffs like this in the future because it was pretty fun.
And today, I beat the first game in Another Code: Recollection, know as Two Memories. I almost bought the DS version of this, but thankfully they announced the remake before I could. XD It was a pretty fun adventure game! I really suck at the puzzles but thankfully the game gives hints. I really liked solving the mystery, and the ending made me a little sad. I started the second game today, and I kinda miss one of the characters from the first game.
It's nice to play some non-RPGs, especially since I spent the first few months of the year putting tons of hours into some long RPGs. |D However, I think I'm due to play an RPG after this. If I'm ever able to finally order the Paper Mario remake (it's always unavailable on Amazon for some reason) then that's probably the next thing I'll play, but I'm sure I'll just compare it to the original since I played that game so many times. Otherwise, I also really want to play the Rhapsody sequels and eventually start the Final Fantasy Pixel remaster. I also briefly played the Saga Emerald Beyond demo and I kinda want to check out the full game...oof so many RPGS...
And yeah...that's all I have for my random life update. To end this journal, I'd like to share this Mother 3 piano cover I've been listening to lately: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQfeMPoMaPY

How many usernames have you had? (You don't have to share them!)
Only three. The first one was Audrey plus three numbers (occasionally spelled wrong when a friend helped me make online accounts |D ). The second one is TheCreatorOfSoften, which has been my username on sites like DeviantART, YouTube, Tumblr and Sketchfu (rip). The last one is SoftenStar, which is the one I've used since like 2014.
What does your current username mean?
It's my character Soften's full name lol ( https://toyhou.se/9572893.soften ). Originally he didn't have a last name and I just added "star" to the end of his name to make a username, but I later decided it rolled off the tongue well and made it his full name.
What is the first program you used to make digital art?
MS paint!! It's the classic digital art program.
Where did you first start posting your art?
Facebook in like...2010? And later Deviantart in late 2010 and early 2011.
What is the first piece of media you drew fanart for?
Kirby. I used to draw lots of crayon pictures of him as a kid after watching my older cousins play Super Smash Bros Melee.
Who was your first self-insert/persona/fursona? What did they mean to you?
Candycane ( https://toyhou.se/17780529.candycane ) was my first and really only attempt at a fursona. I liked the design and decided to make her a fursona, but I don't feel like she represented me well.
Who is your current self-insert/persona/fursona? How are they different to your first?
Candycane is technically still my fursona, but I like I previously I don't feel like she's the best representative of me. These days I usually just use a cartoon version of my self: https://toyhou.se/17781917.audrey-sona-
What phases/styles has your art gone through? (e.g. Did you have an anime era, a cartoon style, a watercolour phase?)
My art has been stuck in an anime phase basically since like 2012. And it will stay that way.
What/who do you think has influenced your art style the most?
A mix of video games and anime basically. Dragon Ball Z, Pokemon, Kirby, and the Adventure-era Sonic games are all big influences on me. Sanrio, Disgaea, and Puyo Puyo are some newer influences.
What/who inspired you to be an artist?
I'm honestly not sure. I've just always loved drawing and making up characters and stories. Part of it was my brother and I pretending to make our games and cartoons, so I suppose both of those mediums were an influence.
What tools are integral to your current workflow? (e.g. Programs, brushes, references.)
My main art program has been Corel Painter Essentials 4 ever since I got my Wacom/Bamboo tablet in like 2009/2010 (but we didn't get it to work until late 2010 because my family is cursed when it comes to technology). So yes I've been using the same drawing tablet this entire time. |D It's the only one I've ever had. My art program was released in 2003...it's super outdated and has problems but I've struggled to switch to other programs.
I also use Adobe Photoshop to change files types since Corel Painter Essentials 4 can't do PNGs. I also use that program for yearly gallery memes and other things. I sometimes use MS Paint for pixel art too.
What improvements have you made recently?
Honestly I'm not sure.
What steps would you like to take in the future?
I'd like to get myself to draw more often like I used to. This is difficult though so I'm a working adult now and I only have two days off each week. I usually just like to relax and play video games after work, but I'm trying to slowly get myself to draw more often again. I think one of the reasons that I get frustrated with my art more these days is that I only draw a few times a week (in other words, I've rusty) whereas younger me was drawing all the time. Somehow, I want to get back to how I used to be, but it's gonna be difficult to figure out with my work life.
