I'm SoftenStar! But you can call me Audrey. :3
I'm finally writing my thoughts on the Nintendo Direct from earlier. XD In my defense I had to get ready for work immediately after watching it. Here's the direct for anyone who missed it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9OqoRxXUjGA
Overall I thought it was a good direct! Lots of silly games (I love silly games). I'm still surprised we got a normal direct considering that the Switch 2 one is on Wednesday next week. :0 But I'm happy we did!! I'll discuss my thoughts on most of the games (if I didn't mention a game I probably didn't have much to say other than "it looks cool").
The Dragon Quest I-II remake looks so good. I loved the remake of DQIII so I'll definitely check these out. Looks like they added a fourth party member in the second game (maybe the Princess of Cannock??) which is good because it's such a hard game. |D I'm excited to see what they add to these two games since they added some nice things to DQIII. Hopefully Malroth can't use fullheal this time.
I really need to get into the AI : The Somnium Files series one of these days. Every time they release new game I stare at it and think "wow that looks cool".
It's cool to see the Raidou games getting a remaster. I watched my brother play a little bit of the first game and it looks pretty fun. Since it's an Atlus game I'm sure it gets super difficult later on.
The weird Pac-man thing in Shadow Labyrinth is kinda cool. I like it when companies do weird things with their IPs.
I'm not much of a rhythm gamer (even though I was a band kid lol) but the Patapon games look kinda fun. I'm mostly surprised that Sony IPs are showing on the Switch (not that Sony uses them though).
Another Harvest Moon remake (this time it's Grand Bazaar). I honestly don't know a lot about the DS entries other than DS Cute so I'm not sure what the reception is for this one, but it looks fun. I'm still hoping for a Magical Melody remake one of these days though. XD
It's surreal to finally be getting Metroid Prime 4 footage after all these years. It's also another reminder that I really need to get into the Metroid series.
The Disney Villain Cafe game is kinda silly. XD But I like silly games.
Witchbrook!!! I've been wondering about this game for years. :0 It looks really fun! The pixel art is really pretty.
Tamagotchi Plaza looks so cute!! But apparently I've been mis-pronouncing "Tamagotchi" for my entire life... |D I thought it was "Tama-Got-Chee"...
Pokemon Legends: Z-A looks fun, but I am kinda bummed that the combat is more action than turn-based. I can't be the only person who prefers turn-based combat... |D I'm also kinda sad that the game isn't about the gritty war in Kalos's past but I shouldn't be too surprised that they didn't make a game about that loool. Despite all that, I am super excited for this game!! Plus Totodile is one of the starters so I'm pretty hyped.
Nice to see Rhythm Heaven finally return! Like I said previously, I'm not much of a rhythm gamer but the games do look pretty silly and fun, so maybe one day I'll finally give them a try.
The whole virtual game card thing is cool, but wow does Nintendo complicate things sometimes. |D but it is nice to know that there will be a way to play digital games on other Switch consoles now.
God I swear the Fantasy Life sequel has been in development forever. |D While I am excited for it, I'm also kinda worried about it to be honest. Level-5 has been making weird decisions over the past few years and I'm really hoping that the game turns out okay (please no AI...).
The Saga Frontier 2 remaster looks really good!! I really need to get into the Saga series. I have multiple of the games and I really want to dig into these weird non-linear RPGs. (yes I own games in a series I haven't really played, but I think I'll like them XD)
Isn't Everybody's Golf also a Sony IP??? Dang Sony is gonna have no unique IPs left at this rate
And of course, the last and best announcement: a Tomodachi Life sequel!!! I'm really happy it's a new game and not a port like Miitopia (I'm happy that got a port, but Tomoachi Life definitely deserved a sequel with new content). God I hope the Mii limit is higher than 100 because I need to squeeze so many OCs into my town/island...
And those are my thoughts on the direct! :D What games are you guys excited for? There's less than a week until the Switch 2 direct and I'm super excited for that too!! Great time to be a Nintendo fan.
Here's my general review/summary of the year. I've posted separate ones for video games and anime as per usual.
Overall, this year had some bad things. Most notably the election, which I'll still convinced was rigged by Elon Musk in some way. The conservative right sucks and we need to get rid of the electoral college.
I also had to finally accept the reality that my 18 year old cats, Tiger and Nina, don't have much longer to live. Back in November, Tiger barely escaped death, and now we're doing everything we can to keep him alive and make his remaining days good. He was given six months to live, but ultimately it depends on how his kidneys are and everything else. He's currently doing very good, so I'm hoping we can keep him that way for awhile. Nina's had an off and on breathing issue, but her medicine is currently helping with that. I cry every time I think about losing them, and I'm not ready to lose them next year. I wish I could make them young healthy cats again, but I can't.
It wasn't all bad though. I did get a nephew this year. I also finally got health insurance again after losing it when I turned 26 (stupid US healthcare system >_> ). I finally put some money into something that gets interest, and I'll probably look into investments/stocks sometime next year.
I also got addicted to Swedish candy and Chinese dress-up games, but hey...everybody needs a hobby. XD
My art suffered again this year, especially after art fight. idk why that happens every year. But I'm glad I've still drawn a little each month.
I got 52 character bios done, which is less than previous years. But I finally started making bios for the Red Witch! It's fun to see the characters from my cringey high school/college fantasy story in my Toyhouse gallery of OCs.
I went back to my local anime convention for the third year in a row and spent more money than I'd like to admit.
I also went to...one movie. welp same as 2023. |D I need to go to more movies...
sigh...I feel like I've mostly just worked this year. I know adulthood is like that, but god I wish I had time and energy to do things. Apparently some people hang out with friends after work??? I wish I had energy to do that. |D After work I just wanna relax with my cats and play video games...it's my after-work therapy.
I don't have much else to talk about. I am worried about what's going to happen next year now that the worst people are going to be in control of the government. Weird how my fast-food job has higher standards than my own government.
Happy New Year everyone! No matter how scary things get, remember you're not alone. Let's stick together through this new year!
Here are my thoughts on the games I played in 2024.
Overall, I didn't play a ton of games that released in 2024 this year, but I did make some backlog progress (I also bought tons of new games though so welp). I've been keeping track of my games progress on Infinite Backlog and I wish I had more people on there. XD No pressure but I'd love to see what games you guys are playing too!
Lots of RPGs and other silly games as usual. I do try to play some different genres though, like a yearly Otome game.
Before I start though, here are my ongoing games from previous years:
Pokemon Go - Played less than last year, but I'm still enjoying catching Pokemon on my walks. I do hate how so many events now require a paid ticket to take part in though. I feel like the game has gotten less free-to-play friendly and I'm worried that it's dying down quite a bit, though lots of my co-workers still play it so maybe I'm just paranoid.
Fire Emblem Heroes - Played less this year too but I still like doing summons and getting new heroes.
Love Nikki - Wow I played it for over a year! I finally completed volume one and crafted the legendary Sea Star suit. I've started volume two, though sadly it's still not completed on the English server (Chinese server is on volume three) but it will be nice once I actually get caught up.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons - I played it a few times this year and I still have fun with it. Still not my favorite game in the series but it feels better now that all of the content has been added, though I still think they could have done more (but that's a whole rant I'm not putting in this post).
Sonic Adventure 2 Battle - A few months ago I had a strong desire to play this again and I ended up training a Chao for a few weeks. I was hoping for a Neutral power or flying Chao but I ended up with a normal Neutral Chao. I maxed out a few stats and would like to go back and train her more sometime.
Spore - Look, if you know anything about me you know I love this game. I start like one new save file per year. I think next year I'll finally do a Space Stage file with a Wanderer again but that's next year...
Age of Empires (1-3, but mostly 2 and 3) - I got random Age of Empires kicks this year. My childhood RTS game is still as fun as ever. It would be fun to host a game someday if I can ever find people to play with (preferably on AOE2).
Princess Maker 2 - I like to do one run of this game every year, and I'd like to think I've gotten somewhat decent at it. I keep getting the same endings though so maybe I should try something different.
And now for the games I played in 2024!
--
Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince - A great new entry into the Dragon Quest Monsters series! I loved playing as Psaro and seeing all the references to Dragon Quest IV. Definitely has some performance issues, but nothing that bothered me too much. The plot would be very confusing to anyone who hasn't played Dragon Quest IV. I want to live in the Circle of Indulgence and eat all of the desserts. Hoping it did well enough to see more Dragon Quest Monsters games in the future!
Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator - The free-to-play gacha game that reminds me of Fire Emblem Engage/Heroes. It's okay, but it loses points for once again shoving Ryza in my face and reminding me that "she went on a summer adventure". I stopped logging in everyday after a certain point, but I'd like to do more of the story eventually.
Trip World DX - Finally got to play this after being curious about it for over a decade. It's a cute and short platformer. I'm surprisingly bad at it lol
Super Mario RPG remake - The remake was amazing! While the first two Paper Mario games are still my favorite Mario RPGs, I really enjoyed this. I previously played part of the original on the Wii U virtual console and I'm glad I could finally finish playing it. Geno and Mallow are pretty cool characters. This is also probably the first game that Bowser teams up with Mario in, which is kinda interesting to think about.
Eternal Radiance - An action RPG made by a smaller dev. It definitely has its flaws, but it was a fun little game. I think with a little more experience, the devs could probably create something really good so I'll be keeping an eye out for their next game.
Shining Nikki - Since I had been playing Love Nikki, I eventually became interested in its 3D successor, so I decided to give it a try. I found it kinda confusing at first, especially compared to Love Nikki, and due to running out of space on my phone I was forced to delete it. However, months later I got a new phone and decided to give it a second chance, and now I really love the game. Similarly to Love Nikki, it takes forever to progress and craft stuff but the serotonin you get when you do is amazing.
Dragon Quest VII - When the 3DS remake first released in 2016, I played so much of this game. It was technically the second mainline Dragon Quest game I played, and I was in love with exploring the world in this game. I made it all the way to the final boss, lost, and for some reason took until 2024 to finally try it again, but I finally beat it! DQVII has a reputation for being a long game, which is true, but honestly it's a great Dragon Quest game and I honestly think it's one of my favorites (though I say that about almost all of them lol). also spoilers but one of the party members leaves permanently and I'd still sad about it
Unicorn Overlord - Vanillaware always delivers. This is such a fun real-time strategy RPG with such gorgeous artwork. The story is a bit cliche, but I did enjoy the characters quite a bit. I do wish Alain had a little more personality, but I find it funny that he's like "sure you tried to kill me but you're strong so please join my army" to almost everyone.
Princess Peach Showtime - So happy that Peach got another game! It's a very cute and simple game, but I had fun playing it, and I think child me would have loved it a lot. I wouldn't mind if they did more silly spinoff games like this once and awhile.
Another Code: Recollection - I was always interested in Trace Memory on the DS, so when they announced a remake of it and its sequel on the Wii I was pretty excited. They're both fun little adventure/puzzle games. I liked the story more in the first game. The second game was good, but one of the storylines ended really abruptly. Both are still pretty good.
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door Remake - The original is already one of my all-time favorite games that I've played multiple times, so I knew I would love this remake. I'm mixed on the soundtrack, some of the new songs are really good (shout-out to Vivian's theme!!) and I like most of the remixes, but my nostalgia for the original music is strong. Some of the dialogue changes are also weird, like I preferred the "The Shadow Sirens" over "The Three Shadows", but we did get trans Vivian so that's what matters. B-) I wasn't big on the voice grunting at first but it grew on me. The sequence that plays in the middle of the final battle was done really well in the remake!
Marl Kingdom Chronicles (Rhapsody II: Ballad of the Little Princess and Rhapsody III: Memories of Marl Kingdom) -The two sequels to Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure finally left Japan! These games were an absolute joy to play from start to finish. They do have some flaws (confusing dungeon designs and kind of grindy) but the story and characters are so charming. I think the second game in the series is my favorite of the three, and my favorite song in the game is "The Little Princess's Resolve". idk I just really love these games and I would love it if Nippon Ichi Software made another one, preferably with sprites and not their newer 3D models. Heck, they could at least localize the one game in the series that still remains Japan-exclusive.
Olympia Soiree - The Otome game I played this year. It had an interesting setting and some cool stuff going on, but holy heck was it sexual...like too sexual for an asexual person like me. |D Like some of the scenes were borderline H-game scenes. Despite that, the overall story was good, and I'd be tempted to check out the sequel whenever it releases. I personally think Himuka should have been the true route though, but maybe he was just my favorite? I think my other complaint is that there were a lot of recurring characters that lacked portraits. It's understandable that not every character will get a portrait, but when they appear in every route I think they should get one. idk the villains in this one were pretty trash but sometimes trash is good
Final Fantasy I - Finally dipped my toes into an actual Final Fantasy game! I played a little of this one on Wii virtual console, but I never got very far. Now that I have the Pixel Remaster, I was finally able to finish it. It's a pretty simple but fun RPG. I really didn't struggle much until the final boss, but somehow I managed to kill Chaos. I think my only real complaint is that I don't like how Black Mage loses his iconic look when he gets his class upgrade. >:U Where'd his hat go???
Atelier Rorona DX - Finally played one of the "scary time limit" Atelier games (unless you count Ayesha but that time limit wasn't bad). Rorona was fun, though it had some anime nonsense I could live without (I blame Astrid). The time limit wasn't bad at first, but near the end it got pretty stressful. I didn't have too much trouble finishing assignments, but completing side quests and character events was a struggle, and I sadly missed the requirements for Sterk's ending. ;_; But one day I'll do a new game plus run so I can try for that and the true ending.
Yo-Kai Watch 2: Fleshy Souls - Okay so similarly to DQVII, I originally played this when it released in 2016, got to the final boss, lost, and then didn't pick it up again until this year. |D God I sucked at beating games back then. I did finally beat it though! Yo-Kai Watch is such a fun series and I'm sad that the games are stuck on the 3DS and going up in price. Sadly can't remember if I liked this one more than the first one but it was a fun time!
Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth: Hacker's Memory - So I thought I played the original Cyber Sleuth like two years ago, but no it's apparently been like four years?? Anyways I finally played the sequel/interquel. It plays very similarly to Cyber Sleuth but with a few quality of life improvements and new Digimon. It took me a little bit to get into the story, but once I did I was hooked. I think at first I was comparing it too harshly to the first game, and when I finally let it be its own thing it finally clicked. I was sad that I couldn't play as a girl, but things get a little gay at one point, so maybe I can excuse it (just please let me play as a girl in the next Digimon Story game). The story was really good, and th ending was sad. There were a few times early on where the game was like "remember this character from Cyber Sleuth??" but it stopped doing that after awhile. There's a really cool sequence late in the game I really want to talk about, but it's such a big spoiler so I won't. It's a very visually amazing part of the game though, and if you play it you'll know exactly what I'm talking about when you see it.
Infinity Nikki - It's finally out!! While I'm not as far into it as I'd like to be, so far Infinity Nikki has bee an absolute joy to play. I'm also just really happy that the series is getting a little more well known thanks to this entry. One day I'll have all of the cute outfits.
Flight Rising - A co-worker got me into playing this (find me here: https://www1.flightrising.com/clan-profile/725949 ). I'm having fun collecting dragons and playing around on the site. I'm definitely turning my dragons into OCs eventually.
Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake - While I played Dragon Quest III a few years ago, I couldn't resist getting this remake! So far it's been very fun and enjoyable. I'm not going to be finished with it before the year ends, but it will just be the first game I finish in 2025! I made the poor decision not to start with any priests, which is starting to kill my party a lot but I'm almost at Alltrades Abbey so I'll be able to fix that soon. idk I thought it would be fun to start with a different party than last time, but I'll probably end with the same classes. |D
--
And those are all of the games I played in 2024!
My favorite game that released in 2024 would either be Unicorn Overlord, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door remake, or Infinity Nikki. However, my favorite game that I played in 2024 would be Rhapsody II: Ballad of the Little Princess. Overall it was a fun year for me game-wise. Looking forward to next year!
What were your guys' favorite games this year? Please let me know!
Here are the anime I watched in 2024 and my thoughts on them. Pretty much only seasonal stuff this year.
--
Hirogaru Sky Precure - It's not my favorite Precure season, but it's still a solid one and it did some interesting things (bird magical boy was cool). I feel like it wanted to do too much though?? Why did Sora need to go to school if we barely see them at school??? And Ageha works at a preschool but also at Pretty Holic?? And the fifth Cure introduced late into the season really didn't add much to the team. Other than that it was a fun season.
Frieren: Beyond Journey's End - The second half of Frieren was really good! The first class mage exam arc is good, but it sure took a long time to get through and Stark kinda got sidelined during it. With that said, I'm really excited for season 2!
Apothecary Diaries -The second half of this was also amazing! The dance sequence at the end of the season was really cool. idk I just really love Maomao and I wish they'd just like her be a mad scientist. Season 2 is gonna be amazing
Undead Unluck - I'm gonna be honest, I didn't like this show at first. However, I kept hearing it got better so I reluctantly stuck with it, and wow did it get better. It went from being a seasonal show I dreaded watching to one I was excited about.
Wonderful Precure! - I've been pretty mixed on this season. The animal theme is fun and cute, but the lack of combat is not great. However, the characters are fun, and I definitely liked it more once the cat got more focus (I'm not a dog person lol). The fact that they aired an episode about a pet dying around the time one of my cats almost died didn't make me feel great (thankfully my cat is still alive though).
Villainess Level 99: I May Be the Hidden Boss but I'm Not the Demon Lord - Villainess anime are always fun. Despite its flaws, I actually really liked this one. I relate to the main character since I also like level grinding and lack social skills.
Delicious in Dungeon - I thought it was going to be a silly cooking themed fantasy anime, but no. This is an epic fantasy adventure disguised as a cooking anime. Holy heck is Dungeon Meshi good. I'm super excited for season 2...I need season 2...Feed me Ryoko Kui and Studio Trigger plz
A Sign of Affection - A cute Shojo romance about a deaf girl and a boy who's interested in learning multiple languages. It's a nice show to watch if you want something chill.
The Demon Prince of Momochi House - Definitely not my favorite show I watched this year. It's not bad, but it feels...generic? idk.
The Weakest Tamer Began a Journey to Pick Up Trash - Another isekai, though it barely acknowledges that it is one. I'm not sure if some of it really translated well to animation.
The Boy and the Heron - Hey I actually went outside and watched a movie this year! Studio Ghibli always has such beautiful animation. idk if it's my favorite film by them but I enjoyed it.
Magical Princess Minky Momo - I only watched a few episodes of this but it's a cute 80's anime. Didn't get to the part with truck-kun yet
A Condition Called Love - This shojo deserved a better budget and animation. The romance is not my favorite, but it's a shame that anime aimed at female audiences tend to have lower production values.
Vampire Dormitory - Holy heck this show is the definition of shojo trash. |D I really didn't care for it, but I watched it every week just to see how stupid it would get.
The Magical Girl and the Evil Lieutenant Used to Be Archenemies - It's a cute short anime, but the fact that its creator passed away before she could finish it means there will never be an ending. I wonder where the story was meant to go.
Dahlia in Bloom: Crafting a Fresh Start with Magical Tools - I found the premise interesting, but was honestly kinda bored by this one. Most of the show is just Dahlia thinking she's not good enough and everyone else telling her she is. You know, like most isekai.
Senpai is an Otokonoko - Okay I really liked this one. It's kind of a bisexual love triangle?? Supposedly the titular character comes out as nonbinary later on from what I've heard. I think my only real complaint is that the female lead's voice is...very high pitched.
Shy Season 2 - Shy is kind of a silly superhero show but I like it more than My Hero Academia. idk something about it is just enjoyable to me.
Acro Trip - I really enjoyed this one! It was a silly magical girl comedy about the villains and how they suck at their jobs, but they do it because they want to see the magical girl shine. The main character is definitely not straight. idk I wish it was more popular and that it got a season 2...or at least the manga localized. It did take awhile for the main character to get her magical powers, so I really want to see what she'll do with them.
Dandadan - This show is so weird, and I love it. If you can get past the messed up scene in the first episode (tw: attempted rape) then you're in for a wild ride. The animation is incredible, and the characters have a really fun dynamic. The show also has had some surprisingly emotional moments too (episode 7 was a lot ;_; ). The cliffhanger was brutal...I can't wait for season 2.
Nina the Starry Bride - I thought this was gonna be a cute fantasy romance, but it's actually kinda dark? idk I'm not a fan of the second male lead that gets pushed as the love interest in the later off. I think she was better off with Az. The ending to the season is such a cliffhanger. There really needs to be a season 2 but so far nothing has been announced.
Magilumiere Magical Girls Inc. - A magical girl series about adults mixed with office culture. It's an interesting take on magical girls, and I'm interested where the second season will take the story.
The Stories of Girls Who Couldn't Be Magicians - This one was really cute and had a nice art style, but I can't help but think it needed more episodes. There's a lot they tried to squeeze into 12 episodes, and a lot of characters that we needed to see more of but didn't. The ending implies that there's more story, but I wonder if we'll ever see more.
Puniru is a Kawaii Slime - Okay listen...Puniru is a feminine non-binary lead. The characters repeatedly state that she's neither male or female. While the show has a few jokes/gags I'm not a fan off, it's overall a very charming show with lots of really fun animation and characters. I will gladly watch 50 seasons of this adorable slime and her friends.
oh...I also watched like half of Record of Lodoss War. I meant to finish it. |D I'm gonna have to rewatch most of it. I really liked what I watched though!
anyways, those are the shows I watched this year!
Picking a favorite is too difficult. Frieren, Dungeon Meshi, Apothecary Diaries, and Dandadan were all amazing though.
So...what anime did you guys watch this year? Let me know in the comments!
idk I feel like writing a life update journal. Might be long, idk.
So while not new, I've definitely slowed down on art lately. |D I am trying to get back into drawing more again, but it's been a very stressful month for me so drawing has sadly been a low priority. I did at least get some character bio concept doodles done, but I wish I had gotten some bio pictures done too.
Anyways, cat update time. Tiger officially has stage three kidney disease, and like I previously mentioned only has months to live. It's been stressful and an adjustment to deal with. Some days he's fine and seems like he's doing well, while others he seems like he's sick. It doesn't help that we've had trouble with his phosphorus binder and getting him to eat his renal food (plus he seems to have some nausea and the medicine for that makes his mouth foam...idk it sucks). Thankfully we've gotten better at giving him his subcutaneous fluids, but that takes three of us to get it done (idk how the vets in all those videos get cats to sit still because Tiger does not).
It's definitely been a learning experience, and I've found a lot of great resources for renal cats online. However, I occasionally run into conflicting information, such as whether or not the current phosphorous binder is good/safe (most people online recommended it and the vet said it was okay but other sources say it's not???). It's also difficult to determine whether he gets nauseous because of the binder, high phosphorus levels, an upset stomach, or just because of his kidney disease.
So yeah...some days I feel like he's doing okay, and other days he won't be and I'll be stressing out about it at work. ;_; It's always on my work days too, and the weekends when most of the vets are closed.
Nina is still doing okay, but her medicine doses are slowing down, and her cat asthma is kinda getting more visible again. She can't stay on this medicine forever and will have to be off of it awhile once these doses are over before she can start it again. Her asthma attacks still terrify me, but outside that and her being mostly deaf she seems fine.
idk watching my childhood cats get old and deal with terminal health problems has been heartbreaking to say the least. ;_; I'd do anything to turn them into younger, healthier cats again but I know that's not possible. The worst part is that I feel guilty about Tiger's kidney disease. I wonder how long this had been going on. Would it be in a lower stage if we had caught it sooner? idk I just feel so guilty that we only noticed it when it almost killed him.
Anyways, I need to talk about other things or this journal is just going to be nothing but sad stuff.
I've been playing Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth: Hacker's Memory. I thought I played the original only two years ago but apparently it's been four years. |D It's really good! I really enjoyed the first game, and this one added more Digimon (though my party is very similar to my Cyber Sleuth one lol). At first I wasn't sure about the story, but I'm enjoying it a lot now that I've gotten 10 chapters into the game. I still think the first game's story is more iconic, but Hacker's Memory's story gets pretty good.
I was kinda sad that I couldn't play as a girl though, especially since you could in the previous game. However, the protagonist's friend Yu is definitely in love with him. You cannot convince me otherwise. So I guess I can excuse the lack of a female protagonist since there's a gay element here (with that said, the next Digimon Story RPG better let me play as a girl! >:U ).
Speaking of games, the Game Awards are coming up soon, and I've recently realized I've barely played any games from this year. |D Only Unicorn Overlord, Princess Peach: Showtime!, Another Code: Recollection, and the Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door remake...and the latter two are remakes. God if I had to pick a favorite from those, it would probably be Paper Mario, but that's sort of cheating since the original is one of my favorite games of all time. Otherwise, I guess Unicorn Overlord would be my favorite from this year??
But if we're talking favorite games I've played this year in general (including games released outside of 2024) it would probably be Rhapsody II. idk that game has flaws but playing it was pure serotonin to me.
While I doubt I'll be done with Digimon before this, Infinity Nikki releases early next month! I'm ready to see what the devs have been cooking for this one. B-) The mobile games are fun, but this game's teaser trailer is what made me interested in the series to begin with so I hope it delivers!
I do feel kinda bad for anyone who thinks it will be a cozy game though. ^^; Don't get me wrong, I'm sure it will be very cozy. However, the Nikki games have some pretty messed up stuff going on underneath the cute fashion battles and I doubt Infinity Nikki will be any different.
As for anime, I don't have a lot to say about anything I'm watching. Dandadan has been pretty fun though (you just gotta get past the first episode and its...sensitive themes. idk anyone planning to watch should look up a content warning first). Episode 7 was surprisingly heartbreaking, and the animation has been high quality throughout.
Other than that, the other seasonal anime I'm enjoying the most are Acro Trip and Puniru is a Kawaii Slime. Acro Trip is pretty silly and I wish it would get more than 12/13 episodes because it took the protagonist too long to get her powers. |D idk I want the manga!! It's finished and it's five volumes...I just need one of those manga publishing cowards to pick up the rights for it. Puniru is pretty fun too. It has a few things I don't like, but overall it's pretty charming and has some very fun animation.
One thing about working more and watching seasonal anime is that I'm really struggling to watch anything else. It's taken me like 7 months to watch half of Record of Lodoss War....and I think I'm gonna need to rewatch most of it before I finish it. ;_; There's a lot anime in my backlog that I want to watch, but somehow I got sucked into watching seasonals. I really need an anime season with no shows I want to watch, but there always seems to be a few anime that interest me every season (one time it was like 13...never again. |D ).
Anime backlog....video game backlog....character bio backlog...my life is nothing but endless backlogs I try and fail to complete. Technically I have a movie/tv show backlog too...and a manga/book backlog. idk too many things.
idk adulthood continues to be a struggle. Would be really cool if someone could prove the Republicans stole the election and get the results changed. 👀 Like that would improve my life big time. Surely some computer whiz out there can find evidence?
Seriously though, the voting machines in the swing states were run by Starlink, and now the guy who owns that is going to have a government position??? Does anyone else think that's as suspicious as hell???? God I wish the Democrats would challenge things instead of sitting there and letting this happen.
idk that's just a theory....a game theory
