I wanted to try working with drawing the Mermaid Melody characters more similarly to the anime's style to get a better grasp of drawing a shojo look. I love the big, dreamy eyes in some shojo anime and manga that I've experienced, though I know it will take more practice to get that style down. I think there's been a sequel manga in the works though I'm not super familiar with it. I also never had a chance to read the english version of the manga, though from my understanding, it's not as good. I'm hoping to eventually draw all the main mermaids while I'm experimenting with this, though it will likely be on hold until I finish one artwork set.

I did enjoy working with Lucia's eyes and hair. I recall working from a reference of her to better get the style. Hanon is still personally my favorite of the main trio, but I still have an appreciation for the main protagonist.
