First of all, yesterday was my 4-year aniversary as an artist!!

This illustration is a remake of a pencil drawing I made in 2021 (or so I think), which was based on this photograph: https://media.gettyimages.com/id/173242750/es/foto/racimo-de-plátanos.jpg

I'm starting to find sense in the way digital coloring works. I made much better use of layers (though i still made some minor mistakes), which later on helped with the coloring part, byy being able to overlap a banana over another and keeping the borders precise.

In the beginning, i was looking for a much more contrasty shading. I started using dark bluish green tones on the darker areas, but it didn't really work out, since it gave the impression that the bananas were just really unripe. And looking at references I ended up with this quite realisic coloring, which arguably looks much better. ^^

I also like the shadows! But I feel like the bananas should be darker on the lowest parts; I completely ignored ambient occlusion! I didn't even forget about it, just that right now I wouldn't know what the best way to approach it would be. Maybe I should aid myself by using a selection tool so as to draw shape-precise shaded areas. I don't really know what I'm saying, I'm kinda sleepy right now. xD In any case, that's an experiment for a future piece, I'm leaving this alone. <:

Now, about the colors I chose. I am REALLY pissed off. The palette works SO much better on my laptop's display than my smartphone. My phone oversaturates the colors, both the base yellow and the lightest green. And if I apply filters to desaturate it, well, then the illustration looks too muted on the laptop. ¬¬
