To make something a bit different, and also because I need to practise head drawings too, I decided to do some head studies today, using the Loomis method. To make things EVEN more different, I decided not to use a grid, since i've found it a tiny bit annoying previously, and i've realised people often don't use any grids. Well, I don't think I'll do this again XD at least not being careful. Because look at number 2 and 3! Or rather, TRY to look at them. they're barely visible lol
Anyways, I thought these were going to be much more difficult. I feel like faces were harder to draw for me than bodies. Not anymore apparently! I COOKED today. 🗣️ At least on some (see 6 and 7!!). On others, maybe not so much (8, 18, and the longhead 5 LOL).
I feel like the results are quite good IF i am given enough time. The quality is reduced when drawing in a shorter amount of time (< 5 min). Given that my figures have more major issues than the portraits, and that I don't erally need to make fast portraits right now, I won't be focusing on this kind of exercises for the moment.
I would tell my future self, though, that he should wait to have determined the entire shape of the head before jumping into drawing the eyes. Sometimes I end up spending a lot of time drawing the eyes and I don't have time left for the remaining parts. Eyes are so easy to get lost in, so it's best to mark the eye bags first, and come back when I have time.
