Hi! Just another DA refugee from before the site went stupid. I will be posting one art piece every Friday until I run out of backlog!

Okay so…that’s never happened before. I’ve heard people complain about mass faving work, but never commenting.
If me leaving comments on your work is considered ‘spam’, please let me know so I can unfollow you! I have been a part of the online art scene for 22 years, and have always been an active participant, trying to be encouraging and picking something out that I enjoy from the art I see. I feel like it helps the artist see that someone is appreciative, and that they’ve done something in their work that caught someone else’s eye. It’s pretty rare that I just say, “cute” or “cool” or some other cookie cutter response that could be applied to ANY work, that could be a literal cut-and-paste. I try to find something specific to the piece at hand, even if it's just a conversation starter.
If you don’t like it, let me know. However, rather than remember everyone's individual preferences among the many people I try to keep up with, I simply won’t follow you anymore. I don't have the time or patience to stop and remember what each person likes and what they don't. If you don't want my interaction, then that's perfectly within your right, BUT we will have to part ways. I'm not here to just pad out your follower count, this isn't twitter.
P.S. Yes I am aware that due to me being busy I tend to 'catch up' all at once. But again, if that's an issue, then I won't follow you. Just let me know, here or privately, and it will be taken care of. Thanks.
My wife was diagnosed with breast cancer a couple of months ago. It was such an early, contained stage that they actually called it Stage 0. Then she had her operation to get the tumor removed, and pathology immediately catapulted her to a Stage 2 instead. The tumor had grown so fast that the center of it had necrotized (the cells died because the abrupt growth cut off blood and nutrients to older cells).
This has been terrifying. If this hadn't been caught when it did, the outcome wouldn't have been so positive. This was a close call.
I encourage all of you who are biologically female to please, please keep up with your screenings. She had no symptoms, no idea. It was only caught because of a routine mammogram. If she'd have neglected that, well... it doesn't bear thinking about.
In other news, well, my backlog of art has long been caught up with and I have no new art. So for now, I'm content to just watch other people have fun. You guys are great, keep up the good work! Also, school. Ugh. I'm so tired of school. But I have a long way to go...
Anyway, feel free to catch me up with you. I wish you all the best. May your favorite snacks always be in stock.
Sssoooo in just the first couple weeks of 2026:
A loved one of mine was placed on suicide watch.
My spouse was diagnosed with cancer. It's very early stage, with treatment this should be fine, but I'm like an anxious chihuahua about it. Also, once you have had cancer, you will always have cancer, it's just in remission. You have to be vigilant about it for the rest of your life. So there's that.
Rent went up. It's fine. I understand. Cost of living is up for EVERYONE but I'm going to worry about it anyway.
Depression set in as I realized this should have been my graduating semester but since I didn't make it, I have to start all over again with another two year program, which will take three to complete because now I have to do different prerequisites and those have to be passed first. Great. I feel like such a winner right now.
School semester began and the teachers have no idea what's going on in anything. The syllabi won't load, all assignments say they were due at a date before the semester even began which makes all work submitted automatically late and they haven't figured out how to fix it, the school bookstore didn't order enough books...somehow... (don't they get advance warning about how many students are taking a specific course? How does this even happen?) annnnd one class says there are 96 assignments due the first week but the teacher says 'only do the ones with the orange dot' and there is no orange dot on our end but there is one on HER end so she just kinda...shrugged about it at first and that was a whole thing...
So yeah, a lot is going on right now. But I see y'all and you're awesome and I hope you're doing at least better than me right now!
I haven't been around for weeks, partly due to holiday travel, partly due to preparing for the December con, and partly just...intimidation about the backlog lol. I can't guarantee I'll get to everyone, and I'll probably drop off the face of the earth again after because, well, the con starts the 18th and I still have loooots to do to get ready, then there's Christmas right after, but I'm alive! Kinda!
I hope you're all doing well. If you'd like, leave how you're doing and what you've been up to in the comments so I can kinda catch up. If not, I'll probably figure it out through journals or something. Thank you for your patience!

Update: Y'all are caught up with! For now...
As done as she's gettin'.
