when 1 world ends, the next one comes alive
Happy New Year! It's still 2025 where I live, so I just want to get some thoughts out before 2026 comes around.

I can comfortably say that this year was one of the worst years I've ever had to live through, if not the absolute worst. 2016 and 2020 were rough, but nowhere near this bad. Thankfully, me and my family haven't had to suffer too much this year, but it doesn't make me happy knowing so many others around the world weren't so lucky. Very little good came out of this year, and the way things are looking now, 2026 might be even worse. But, I still have just a little optimism. Why? Because I refuse to give into apathy and cynicism. I don't blame people for feeling pessimistic and even a little doomerish with the way things have been going for the past 5 years, but I just want people to remember that things aren't always going to be like this. Everything may suck now, but it doesn't have to suck forever. Humanity has made it through many tough times before, and we can still do it today. Giving up won't solve anything, and there are too many people who care about me and too many things I believe in for me to do so. Better things are possible, and I want to work as hard as I can to make them a reality. I still have faith that there are many people out there like me who not only believe in the possibility of a better world, but want to work to make it happen, and I sincerely hope we can start doing so in 2026. Maybe it's just my endless optimism; maybe I'm just huffing hopium, but that's what I believe.

On a less depressing note, I'm turning 20 next year, and I have a lot of plans to better myself as a person by then. I haven't really been happy with myself as a person in the past 5 years, so this is the perfect opportunity to fix myself. I've written them down so I can see how many of my goals I've managed to accomplish by my 20th birthday.
That's all I've got to say. I hope 2026 is a better year for you :)
By the end of this year, I'm dropping all of my social media (except Youtube). I'm just really sick and tired of the bullshit that comes with social media; the trolls and bots, the disgusting and annoying behaviors of shitty people, the constant censorship and disappointment. I'm ready to leave it all behind. So far, I've left Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and Tumblr, and I'm gearing up to leave Bluesky and Discord as well. I just want to enjoy other peoples' art, photographs and opinions, have a robust tagging system that everyone can use to provide a comfortable and regulated experience while avoiding content they don't want to see, and be able to effectively block and/or mute other people. I don't want to live in fear of everyone else on the internet or be paranoid all the time. At this point, I only trust sites that are made for artists, by artists. I don't trust social media to protect us or treat us well.
I do feel a little bad about this for a multitude of reasons, but social media has ultimately done more harm than good for me and humanity in general, and I've finally come to the the decision that it would be better for me to step away.
Here are some really cool artists that I like who unfortunately aren't on Sheezy at the moment, but you should still check out elsewhere if you can! I wanted to make this journal so I wouldn't forget about them even if I can't regularly follow them.

For the past few weeks, I've been having a lot of trouble with the worldbuilding for my main project, Culture Shock. I won't bore you with all of the details, but one of this show's goals is to expose people to different cultures and societies.
The thing I've been having trouble with is determining what kind of world the characters will live in. I want the characters to live in a better and slightly more romanticized version of our world. I don't want it to just be a 1:1 recreation of our world. That would be boring. However, I want to retain as many things from our world as possible, and creating something entirely different would probably make it harder to achieve the aforementioned goal. So far, I've come up with two ideas:
- The one I'm currently sticking with: have human history take place in prehistory, but carried out by the dinosaurs instead (kinda like the Dinosaurs TV shows), and have modern societies use the dinosaurs' history as a guideline for what they should and should not do.
- The one I'm thinking about going with: make up a different world for them to live in, but with many aspects of their cultures and societies based off of ours.
I could really use some help with this, because this has been driving me crazy for the past few weeks.
Decided to make this journal to keep track of my interests and let people get to know me. I'll update this from time to time. Media with a 🌟 are my favorites!
