Valentine's DayAh, Valentine’s Day, the holiday all about love. Too bad for Maxwell that mainly amounts to heterosexual romantic love. But he persisted in trying to find a card for Lucas. Maxwell was not very artistically talented. He could write, but he was hopeless at actually drawing, even if Lucas would’ve appreciated the card either way. Regardless, Maxwell didn’t have the materials to make a card, and didn’t want to have a bunch of materials for something he was going to do only a few times a year. Eventually, Maxwell gave up and just decided to bake Lucas something, which was an activity Maxwell is actually good at. However, as he left the News Agency, his eyes spotted a small skeleton laying on the cement path. When he took a closer look at them, he noticed that they had long, messy, light blue hair styled into a ponytail longer than Maxwell’s own. Not to mention much less neater. The skeleton was also wearing mostly black, alongside wearing a spiked choker and matching wristbands. ‘Are you okay?’ Maxwell asked, crouching down to get down to the skeleton’s level. ‘No…’ they said groggily, their surprisingly deep baritone voice contrasting with their stature. ‘Too hot…’ ‘Would it be okay if I picked you up and brought you to my place so you could cool down?’ ‘Go ahead…’ Maxwell picked them up and placed them on his shoulder, yelping a bit when he felt their surprisingly cold body. ‘Sorry…’ Maxwell said. ‘Say, do you happen to be a frost spirit at all?’. ‘Yes…’ the skeleton said. That explains a lot, Maxwell thought. Upon returning home, Maxwell placed the skeleton on the couch in the lounge room and got the air conditioner pumping. While his house was cooler in comparison to outside, Maxwell just wanted to ensure that they could cool down comfortably, especially with the knowledge that they’re a frost spirit. He then went into the kitchen and got an ice brick from the freezer, returning to the lounge room to place it on the skeleton’s head. ‘Thanks,’ the skeleton said. ‘Say, what is your name?’ Maxwell asked. ‘The name’s Victor, and I’m a man. What’s your’s?’ ‘My name is Maxwell, I’m also a man. I’m going into the kitchen to make my boyfriend and myself chocolate soufflé as it’s Valentine’s Day. If I make any extra, would you like some?’ ‘I’m not interested in Valentine’s Day, but how am I supposed to say no to chocolate soufflé?’ Victor replied. ‘Can I have it with extra icing sugar and ice cream?’ ‘Yep! I can do that!’ Maxwell said. ‘In fact, the ice cream would be a good idea for you so that it’s not so hot that it’ll harm you when you eat it. Anyway, just call out if you need anything, okay?’ ‘I will.’ As Maxwell began to get ready, he decided to call Lucas. Maxwell had a phone in his kitchen in case he had any phone orders and he happens to not be at his bakery, but he also used it to call Lucas sometimes. Unlike his boyfriend, Maxwell uses an older house phone as opposed to a mobile phone, for the most part at least. ‘Hi, Lucas!’ Maxwell said. ‘Hey, Maxwell!’ Lucas replied. ‘How’s it going?’ ‘Pretty good! How about yourself?’ ‘The same as you.’ ‘I’m just calling to give you a head’s up that we have a guest at my house,’ Maxwell said. Even though the two mainly hung out at Maxwell’s house, the two haven’t moved in together and haven’t gotten married, nor have either of them proposed to each other yet. ‘Ah, I see,’ Lucas replied. ‘What happened?’ ‘Well, you see, I was doing some business in regards to your Valentine’s Day present wink wink, but I gave up, so I left the store I was at. When I was leaving, I found a skeleton frost spirit laying on the path, suffering from the heat, so I asked him if it was okay to pick him up and take him to my place and he said yes.’ ‘So it was very spur of the moment, huh?’ ‘Yeah…’ Maxwell answered. ‘Well, I’d rather you have an extra guest that has to stay out of the heat than him staying out there and potentially dying,’ Lucas replied. ‘Besides, what’s the present going to be?’ ‘I’ll show you when you get here, but let’s just say I’m going to bake something for us. While I’m going to leave some for Victor, the guest, that’s because what I’m making makes three.’ ‘I can’t wait! And that’s fine, I understand.’ ‘Anyway, I have to get started with the present now before you get back, so bye!’ Maxwell said, with Lucas saying bye in response before hanging him up. Maxwell then got started working on the soufflé, preheating the oven and separating the eggs.
