Hello!
Sorry I disappeared for a while, I've been incredibly busy the past few weeks. I moved out of my uni accomodation and went back home for the summer, which took two 6 hour round trips on public transport OTL then after that, I had a week back home before my flight to Ireland on the 26th :')
I'm now staying with my bf for the summer, and FINALLY managed to set up my PC and get back to drawing. It's been a busy few days settling in, as we drove back up to Dublin for pride yesterday, but everything's calmed down now and I'm ready for ArtFight tomorrow (not really, but I can pretend I'm ready and maybe it will become true)! I'm probably going to use the inevitable site downtime tomorrow to finish up some quick refs rather than getting started on attacks. I didn't manage to get as many refs done as I would have liked, unfortunately.
If anyone wants to follow me over on AF, I'm on Team Seafoam and totally fine with friendly fire. Like I said in a previous journal (I think) I'm mainly focusing on bookmarks this year, but that doesn't mean I won't revenge! I definitely want to get back to as many people as I can, but I'm trying not to stress about it too much like I did last year lollll

I have Krita installed for animation purposes, but I never have time to animate so I never use it :P I will also probably uninstall it once I've bought CSP EX because I won't need it anymore lol
Is it easier to draw someone facing left, right, or forward?
Forward for sure. Side profiles are also easier than 3/4 imo. People who draw the same 3/4 angle every piece are built different istg I admire you lot
What ideas come from when you were little?
What counts as little? Because I started thinking about Operation Amarillo when I was like 14. If we're talking LITTLE little, then Desiree's design hasn't really changed since I was 8.
Favorite character or subject that's a bitch to draw?
Shirt collars ARHGRHGHGHDHR GRRRRR p much all my OCs wear button-up shirts and I struggle with them EVERY TIME
Estimate of how much of your art you post online VS. the art you keep for yourself?
I post the vast majority of my art online, and kind of always have done. I've mostly kept my NSFW stuff to myself (partly because I never end up finishing the drawings bcs I'm lazy and hoard WIPs :P) but now that I've made an NSFW persona on here that might end up changing.
Anything that might inspire you subconsciously? (e.g. This horse wasn't meant to look like The Last Unicorn but I see it.)
Story beats and character archetypes from films and TV shows I like. Lonnie wasn't supposed to be a carbon copy of Rye, but I accidentally made them near identical 😭😭
A medium of art you don't work in but appreciate?
Any physical art. My hands don't work, I have terrible motor skills and my fingers sieze up when I try so I have SO much respect for people who can do it. Especially people with the same issues as me.
What's an old project idea that you've lost interest in?
So many ... my old Warrior Cats comic from 2016, my visual novel idea (though I am turning that into a stag play instead), my set of novels about Dmitri, etc. etc. I never finish anything ever.

I alternate between music and video essays usually mid-drawing.

Eyes and mouth. Also tummy.

Hyper realism :| back when I did studies my mum would always praise it so much more than my actual art and tell me I should draw realism more. So I stopped doing studies and didn't improve for several years.

90% of my friends rlly struggle drawing men, which I think is funny because I pretty much ONLY draw men. And I struggle drawing women. We balance each other out perfectly.

Anime-inspired art styles are gorgeous tbh I love them ... especially ppl who go crazy shading the eyes. Wowowow!

Yepppp! For shading and lighting, and I mess around with them for textures and gradient maps too.

My OCs have been compared to other characters before and every single time it is the most insulting comparison humanly possible. EXCEPT FOR PEOPLE SAYING LASZLO HAS HARRY DUBOIS VIBES. That's a very high compliment.
What's a piece that got a wildly different interpretation from what you intended?
Can't think of any off the top of my head.
Do you warm up before getting to the good stuff? If so, what is it you draw to warm up with?
I don't warm up because my warmups turn into finished pieces and then I never get to the drawing I was warming up for x_x

Ermmm... ArtFight? Does ArtFight count? Probably not. This year will be my 9th year on AF though if anyone cares. That's kinda neat I think.

10! I love ArtFight, and with literally nothing to do over the summer my unemployed ass will be on that GRIND !! I'm trying to beat my record number of attacks set last year (40). I will be focusing more on bookmarks, too, and not forcing myself to revenge everyone even if I don't vibe with any of their character designs. That was my downfall last year, I think. I got super burnt out.

I have a quick question I'd like an opinion on. I've been making nude references for my OCs to show off their body types and tattoos, but uploading them to ArtFight I realised that maybe people would me more comfortable with underwear refs instead? The nude refs aren't sexual or anything, they're literally just for reference purposes, but I understand some people are uncomfortable with that regardless.
What do you guys think? Should I made a third version of their ref sheets in underwear and link to the nude ref on Toyhouse in their ArtFight bio to avoid losing another gallery slot to the same ref sheet? Or do you think I should just keep the nude ones and not bother putting them in undies :P

Hello! Happy pride month to you all (:
I thought it was about time I introduced and linked all my persona accounts somewhere other than just a little menu halfway down my profile -- I doubt most of you guys even know I have them! Recently I've been posting all of my Fargo fanart here on my main account for visibility, then moving it over to my Fargo persona for archival purposes. I'm probably still going to do this for the time being, but I have two other persona accounts that will have art posted directly to them from now on ^__^
I don't tend to follow people, like posts, or comment using these accounts -- I just use them for gallery organisation. HOWEVER, I am trying out using my NSFW persona to like and comment on NSFW artwork! Let me know if this is confusing or annoying and I'll go back to using this one ^__^

My Fargo persona, taking the name of my AO3 account and main Tumblr blog. Here I post all my Fargo fanart and OCs, as well as journals announcing fic updates/new works on my AO3 page. I justify this persona by the fact that I draw way too much Fargo art for my own good (and wanted a Fargo themed profile LOL).
Even if you haven't watched Fargo my fanart is cool and awesome and my OCs are based. If you like BASED OCs maybe check it out.

A persona collecting all of my work in progress art; sketches, unfinished/abandoned pieces, and the like. I will also be sharing timelapses of my finished pieces on this account, so if you're going to follow it for anything, do it for those! Now that I have abandoned Instagram, that is where all of my timelapses will be going. Without audio, unfortunately, as I am too lazy to edit music in :P
I'm actually going to be working on uploading a tiny little backlog of timelapses today (mostly from Goretober 2023) so keep an eye out for those ^__^

My NSFW persona. I was hesitant about the pun in the name (Wen + NSFW) as it kind of ends up looking like Wen SFW? What that's the opposite of what it's supposed to be? But hopefully all the big warnings on the profile clear it up a little. OBVIOUSLY MINORS ARE NOT ALLOWED ON THIS PERSONA. Please be normal oh my god.
This is where all of my NSFW art and writing will go, including nude reference sheets, suggestive art, and maybe just straight up porn. Like I said earlier, I'm trying out using this persona to like & comment on NSFW artwork instead of my main. Let me know what you think about that idea.
That's all of them for now, and I don't think I'll be making any in the future unless I get really insane about a fandom other than Fargo.
