💫 Here's your daily reminder 💫
ALWAYS take pictures of your work, even if you think it isn't good, even if you aren't selling it, or if it's just for your eyes only. There is no guarantee that your work will be here tomorrow or that something won't happen. If you have a picture at least there is some evidence, it existed once upon a time instead of only existing in your memories.
I say this from experience, I never felt confident enough to post my work. Because of that, I never felt the need to take photos because I didn't think it was good enough and since it wasn't being posted anywhere there was "no point". I couldn't have been more wrong.
I've been creating for as long as I can remember; I spent years honing skills, practicing different mediums, working with different subjects, etc. - I had tons of personal work, fan art, and school projects that I poured my soul into; well over 14 years worth of work, work that despite being self-conscious I was still proud to have. However, in 2018 due to a series of unfortunate events, all of that work was destroyed - over 14 years worth of work, gone in the blink of an eye - work that will now only exist in my memories, and I regret never getting photos of them before they were destroyed.
I never thought something like that could happen to me or that if it did I wouldn't care because it wasn't good enough, but it did happen and I did care. You truly never know what you have till it's gone. This is one of the few photos I have of any piece pre circa 2020, I made this in 2017.
