In order to continue working on my worldbuilding for the Lirri, I realized I needed to flesh out their environment some more. I've been feeling rather stuck with their development, however much of their culture will stem from their surroundings. So, once I have some good plants and trees to work with for their world, I can start figuring out things like their coloration, coat patterning, food, housing, and more.

So, here's one of the plants I sketched up a concept for yesterday.

My thoughts for their biology is that they secrete or collect some sort of desirable substance (like nectar, perhaps, or possibly just water) in the sort of bowl-shaped leaves/structures. When in bloom, the draping structures grow - these are the male flower parts - and they dust their pollen or spores on creatures as they climb in and out or reach into the bowl-shaped-structures to retrieve the aforementioned desirable substance. I haven't figured it out yet, but the female flower parts will likely either be inside the bowls, or possible are the feathery edges of the structures. Essentially these are novel shapes, but very familiar methods of reproduction when it comes to plants.

Hope you like my weird plant :)
