now what. /lh
ive installed endeavour since i wanted to see how custom i could get my desktop pc and i dont really want to go thru the pain of arch checklists. plus im a total noob. im liking the way it runs so far
now to see how i can get csp to work and then i will probably just do whatever forever. i plan on putting a ton of stupid little widgets on my desktop until my workspace looks atrocious
update like a day later: i realized i was out of my depth and i dont really know the first thing about shit. so now im running mint on another partition for daily use while i relearn the basics lol
ok continuing my long list of rambling sessions about tech on the art website for people who know tech. i've been really feeling that barrier that you get where you know enough about a subject that you know youre just a beginner and really out of your depth when you go beyond the basics. which is really fun when you're studying for an IT certification- so many times i'll visit a subject on the course and be like "wait i dont know what the fuck that means and what if i get tested on this edge case thing" so i spend the next five hours reading all i can about what is actually being talked about.
i know that it's actually really normal to feel this way and it's actually a pretty productive way to approach learning, but it still irritates me to no end that i pay for expensive learning materials and i still find myself supplementing it with external media because i find the material way too generalized and vague
man i think i need to stop using windows altogether it keeps resetting all of my file and privacy settings to default like the moment i update it and then suddenly my computer is sharing my extensive collection of undertale fanfiction i wrote when i was 17 to the whole world like my pants decided to take a break from covering my ass.
i guess thats the whole point of doing that is to make sure user data remains 100% available to microsoft, so it can be sold later down the line for advertising purposes (eg ai, which in itself is a Giant Advertising Machine). and it's not like things aren't already scummy w/ microsoft. i remember the deeply unpopular moment with windows 8.1 metro that basically served you adware no matter how much you tried, it was basically designed for having ads in your face when you logged in. the only reason they dialed it back is because people already hated the design (which honestly, was ok as a user interface imo but did not belong in the microsoft lineup)
im probably switching to linux within the year because of all those problems. im mostly familiar with the mint distro but if anyone has information about like, immediate security risks in doing so or that i'm making a huge mistake being misled by peoples love for simple install methods then sure ill use arch and hate every second of it
