I've... uh... noticed this a lot, in a lot of places online, but people really do post every detail of their life online with their full legal names attached, don't they? It's a little scary... I don't care how "safe" certain megacorporations claim it is. I don't trust strangers with that information.
Maybe I'm just a little spooked because I'm a bit chronically Online... My childhood was spent during the age of the Internet where people stalked and harassed an autistic person because they put almost every personal detail of their life online, and coerced them into committing acts that got them arrested. I've always had it in the back of my mind that it's not just identity theft and stolen passwords that you have to worry about.
But even then- I remember that people in that era of the internet also had personal pages with their full names... but it always felt like a sort of portfolio or business card, and never was so detailed that you could triangulate someone's address by a group of selfies. Maybe I am overly paranoid....... but I think it's still healthy to say people should still be a little cautious. It's a crazy world out there, and you never know what stranger is reading what you say.
I didn't make the other journal meme I just posted but it reminded me that you can just make some up too. So I might make a ton of templates... I have the power... The brain cells... The will to write...
It also reminded me that I need to write more art questions for my doodle/sketch alt, because I genuinely liked hearing how other people approached different areas of art. I probably should get on that soon... I haven't posted a journal there since January....
Was bored and decided to fill out a journal meme <3
RULES:
Pick one option per question if possible - even the smallest preference counts. If not possible, explain your answer!
Digital art OR traditional art?
Oogh, I can't really decide. I love digital art and all its versatility, but I also love the feeling of analog art tools. I'd say I prefer digital art just for its convenience.
Original concepts/characters OR fanart/canon characters?
I'm a HUGE proponent of original work! I feel like too much of the Internet is centered around a handful of IPs that are all... coincidentally corpo slop. There's a lot of complicated dissertations I could be having about why this is and how we got here, but the gist of my opinion is: I want to see more original ideas!
Original fiction OR fanfiction?
See above! The only difference between original fiction by a small creator and something that people can have a "fandom" around is its popularity! And you can't get popular if you don't put your work out there!!!!
Sketch OR lineart?
To me... sketching IS lineart, lol. So sketch.
Coloring OR shading?
Honestly there's not much difference in the two for me. I like planning out flats though, so coloring it is.
Handwritten signature OR text signature?
Depends on how I'm feeling. Text for legibility.
Shrink canvas OR add a filter before posting?
This is probably some question about preventing art theft but generally I shrink my canvasses if they're absurdly huge files. I don't really have much of an opinion on this stuff since it happens regardless of what you do to your art to prevent it.
Messy art OR clean art?
I <3 crust!!! Despite having quite a few characters that are cutesy I really like crusty/grimy textures and feelings in my art.
Bright colors OR muted colors?
Depends on my mood but I really like saturated colors a lot.
Warm colors OR cold colors?
Hmm.... interestingly, I like warm colors the most!
Graphics tablet with screen OR no screen?
I have a screen tablet, I like it. I recc them if you have the money, just make sure you know what kind of investment it is.
Humans OR nonhumans?
I like both, but nonhumanoid designs are super fun to experiment with!
Fur OR scales?
I like fuzzy things <3
Edgy characters OR wholesome characters?
My childhood crush was Shadow the Hedgehog, I cannot lie that I prefer the edge.
High-poly models OR low-poly models?
Depends on the style! I like it when people work with the constraints of low-poly.
Music OR podcasts while drawing?
Depends on if I want to really focus, music tends to be my go-to. I usually listen to VODs of various livestreamers when I need to turn my brain off for a piece.
aaand I tag whoever wants to do this meme too! Have fun! Start yapping! Nobody can stop you!!!!!!!!!!!!
COMMENT IF YOU'RE A TRUE COMMENTHEAD.......................
TBH though i am really happy to see that people are more likely to comment on this site. like other sites seem to value peoples liking/upvoting over everything else and basically nobody is encouraged to have a conversation on a post... ik that i complain about that kind of thing 24/7 but it really does make you feel like you aren't being seen by people... just numbers. which i guess is the goal since most modern socmeds are just advertisement boards that claimed at some point to be a forum
ive been putting in a lot of effort getting the hang of my new linux enviro w krita and all the linux alts for software i usually use.
the main reason for this was because i accidentally corrupted my SAM registry on my windows installation (i wont get into details on how, long story) and im too lazy to go out of my way to fix that.
so now when i boot windows i see this
IMG DESC: Windows login message that says "You've entered an incorrect PIN too many times. Your PIN is disabled for 449173 hours."
i guess im a linux user permanently now. considering im not really a fan of microsoft products in general it's not really a loss to me, but this will be a bit of an ordeal because ive been a windows baby since i was old enough to press buttons on a computer.
but then again since im (in)competent enough to do things like corrupt login registry files (and recognize thats the problem) i think ill be fine figuring out the linux enviro. i already figured out how to install nvidia drivers and make them fucking work without any incident.
anyways if anyone has some good recs for krita brushes im all ears because i have a whole catalogue of .sut brushes i cant use anymore
