Hi. I'm DangerMouseFan1981. I'm not really much of an artist but I do appreciate art and the hard-working people who make them. ^^

For my first journal, I would like to take this opportunity to talk about a cartoon from Nickelodeon that I used to watch back when I was a kid: SpongeBob SquarePants.
While I'm fully aware that SpongeBob is still on the air, I didn't watch any of the more recent episodes. Mostly because I lost intrest in the show since ... probably ... somewhere between the first and second movies.
I don't know if it was the decline in the writing's quality, the over-reliance on shock value (Gross out jokes, mean-spirited humor, etc), how much the characters have been flanderized to the point where they became shadows of their former selves, or any combination of the three. All I know is that the current seasons of SpongeBob don't hold a candle to the earlier seasons.
Call it nostalgia but I grew up watching the first three seasons of SpongeBob. And I loved them! I even own the DVD box sets of Seasons 1 and 2.
As I got older, though, I realized there were a few episodes (Mostly from Seasons 2 and 3) that kinda rubbed me the wrong way.

(Please note: If you still enjoy these episodes, I respect your opinions.)
Season 2:
- Grandma's Kisses (Although I still like the "freeform jazz" joke)
- I'm with Stupid
Season 3:
- Mid-Life Crustacean
- The Great Snail Race
- Party Pooper Pants
- The Sponge Who Could Fly (aka The "Lost" Episode)

As you might've noticed, two of the four Season 3 episodes I mentioned feature Patchy the Pirate, a character who I don't really like very much. My dad's not the biggest fan of him either. And he enjoys SpongeBob as much as I do.
Also, there was a time where I liked the first SpongeBob movie...until I got older and realized that it had a few problems the later seasons would have. The biggest being SpongeBob acting like an overgrown little kid despite the fact that there were times in the earlier seasons where he acted mature to the best of his ability.
I know some of you are probably big fans of the first SpongeBob movie but please don't take anything I say too seriously. This is just an opinion.
And finally, a bit of a "what if" idea I want to share with you guys.
If I had the ability to rearrange certain episodes of the first three seasons, I would make "SpongeBob Meets the Strangler" the 100th episode segment and have "Band Geeks" be the series finale.
I know what you're thinking: "Why do you think 'Band Geeks' should be the series finale?"
Well, I've heard a lot of people talk about how "Band Geeks" should've been SpongeBob's final episode. And I can see why. What better way to end a show like SpongeBob than to have almost every character do a live musical performance on a stage in front of a large audience?
Anyway, those are my thoughts on SpongeBob. I hope you like it. ^^
