it's been 4 months since the last one, but I seen a few journals about the first subject of this protip, so this protip is:
How to change your profile picture (pfp for short), profile decor, and comment signature (feat. tone indicators)
To do so...
On Desktop
Click on your profile picture on the top right corner of your screen, and then in the dropdown click "Account Settings."
On Mobile
Either tap on your profile picture in the top right or the three bars in the bottom right, and in the popup tap the button with the gear and the word "Account."
Once you're in your account settings, locate the Account and Profile section, and click on Customizations.
This is where you can upload your profile picture and profile decoration (at one point referred to a "Profile Buddy")
Yours may look slightly different to mine, because if you have a Basic+ subscription, you get slightly more options here (ability to select more shapes than just circle, rounded square, square. ability to upload gifs for your pfp and decoration.) Rest assured, everything else on that page should be available to others.
From here, you can upload your profile picture and decoration. There are further options, one of them being the pfp shape. Then you can also choose if you want anti-aliasing on your decoration. I have it off since my decoration is pixel art, but do toy with the setting and see what fits for you.
...As for comment signature (comment sig for short) you'll have to go into another section. Locate the Content Settings section, and the Comment Settings button.
This should take you to this page:
The comment signature part is where you.. set up your comment signature. It uses a Markdown box but of course, it's Sheezy. You could possibly get away with HTML in a Markdown field here too (i think i saw it a couple times iirc).
You can put anything in here, like other text fields. You can put your socials (Steam, Toyhouse, Artf- oh wait that's no longer relevant lol), a quote ("sv_cheats 1" -Sun-Tzu, Art of War), or a funny image (if you seen any of my (or some user's) comments around the site then you'd know). There are many possibilities :D
You may have noticed there are other options in the Comment settings, something to do with Tone Indicators /srs
Sheezy has a feature that lets you append tone indicators to a comment, which will show up in the same line as the name and timestamp. Hovering over it will display what the tone indicator is in a tooltip. There are settings to modify this behavior, however.
- Display Tone Indicators on Comments
- This controls whether you see the selected tone indicator on the comment. On by default. Good for if you want to see the commenter's intended tone, or if you don't want to see tone indicators, period.
- Enable Tone Indicators Dropdown
- This determines if the tone indicator dropdown appears in the comment box. On by default. I personally have it off since I don't really bother with tone indicators myself, but if you prefer to use them, keep the dropdown enabled.
There's also the option to toggle the visibility of other's comment sigs.
That's it for Protip #2. It's been a good while since the last one, so it ain't exactly a regular series. Thing is, ideas for these don't exactly rush to me, because I want to make sure these are helpful for newcomers. Hopefully this one was helpful though! Who knows what the next protip is! (Maybe after the rebuild this series will be cooking again due to new, larger scale features).
EDIT: Should I start putting the topics in the title? The topic is usually visible in the journal previews but I feel like also putting it in the title will be helpful.
I decided to screenshot all the palettes because why not, and I have been holding on them for a while. Good for if you're feeling nostalgic about the site or if you just want some cool palettes to use.
There's 39 screenshots in the zipped folder. For those who care, the very last color in the palette is typically the background color.

small preview of the palettes:
P.S. yeah i screenshotted them so anyone can use them and turn it into a palette in their art program of choice. unless you know a way to export palettes so they can be used by anyone no matter if they're using Krita, Clip Studio, Firealpaca, whatever, they're screenshots.
do you ever feel like causing problems intentionally or maybe stirring a little controversy for the hell of it?
